Mahesh Babu had pinned high hopes on Srimanthudu’s Tamil version, Selvandhan to create a new market for himself in the neighboring state. He even flew all the way to Chennai for the audio release of the movie.
However that seem to have not worked as Selvandhan’s openings are below average there. Even the word of mouth is also below average shattering any hopes of a revival. However it is said that the Telugu version is doing well in Tamil Nadu.
After the super success of Baahubali’s Tamil version, industry including Mahesh realized the market potential there. He now hopes to make it big there with his next, Brahmotsavam which is a bilingual in Telugu and Tamil.
