What is being seen as one more proof of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s plan to go for early polls, the AP Chief Minister has announced a state-wide outreach programme starting from December this year. The programme would run well into 2022. This will involve the MLAs extensively covering their constituencies for two days in a week. Chief Minister YS Jagan Reddy too will undertake a state-wide tour during the same time.
Ostensibly, the programme is aimed at covering the village secretariats. This would mean reaching out to the villages. YS Jagan has indicated about this during a Spandana video conference organized on Wednesday. He said massive inspection of the functioning of the village secretariats is needed to ensure the proper implementation of the government welfare schemes.
It may be recalled that Jagan undertook a whirlwind tour of the rural country side ahead of the 2019 assembly elections. It was during this yatra that he covered almost every village for nearly an year. This mass contact programme helped him to win the people to his side. In the 2019 elections, he created history by defeating Chandrababu Naidu and his TDP. What is interesting is Jagan began talking about mass outreach soon after Prashant Kishor’s entry into AP. Jagan announced that PK and his team would work for the YSRCP and prepare its election strategies.
Jagan would like to strike when the iron is hot. The opposition is now in a confused state with the TDP losing badly in the ZPTC and MPTC elections. The party fared badly even in Kuppam, the borough of the TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu. Jagan may have put in motion his plan to attack the TDP when it is at its weakest.
