Telangana: CPI facing flak for its double standards

The Communists have once again proved that they have no ideological commitment and they change their tunes according to their convenience.

Last week, the Communist Party of India (CPI) has announced that it will support the Telangana Rashtra Samithi candidate Sanampudi Saidi Reddy in the by-elections to Huzurnagar assembly seat to be held on October 21.

Several people’s organisations have found fault with the CPI for supporting the TRS which had once described the Leftists are “thoka parties” and have no ground in the state.

Moreover, the TRS had lured a CPI legislator into the party in its previous term. And TRS candidate Saidi Reddy has nothing to do with the Telangana movement, but is an NRI.

Surprisingly, CPI’s affiliated workers’ organisation All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) is part of the Joint Action Committee of Telangana RTC employees and workers’ unions and has been actively participating in the strike for the last two days.

The AITUC workers, primarily the CPI activists, all over Telangana, including in Huzurnagar, have been raising slogans against the TRS government and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao condemning his dictatorial attitude.

This is surprising the people of Huzurnagar. They wonder how Communists, who claim to be people-oriented, can change colours just like that.
