Noted industrialist, media baron and former Congress Rajya Sabha MP Girish Sanghi has crossed over to BJP. Girish formally joined BJP in the presence of its chief Amit Shah. Girish hails from Telangana and a prominent personality of Arya Vysya community.
He owns Telugu and Hindi daily Vartha. Stating that he was floored with PM Narendra Modi’s “dynamism”, Sanghi joined BJP. Apparently, Amit Shah appointed Sanghi to took care of Arya Vysya community people in the counrty in general and particularly in Delhi elections.
Shah reportedly told Sanghi to mobilise community voters towards BJP. Sanghi played pivotal role during the tenure of late YS Rajasekhar Reddy. However, post the demise of YSR, Sanghi was ignored in Congress.
Although his Rajya Sabha term ended in 2011, he wasn’t given another chance to Upper House. Since then, Sanghi had been unhappy over Congress and taking right opportunity, Sanghi switched over to BJP. Smart move, indeed.
