Even after ban is imposed by the Supreme Court on Tamil Nadu’s traditional bull taming sport Jalli Kattu, the spirit with which whole Tamilians are fighting against the Apex court’s decision is laudable.

In very short period, the whole Tamil Nadu has taken to the streets and managed to move the national media. Political leaders cutting across parties, movie stars and other prominent personalities in Tamil Nadu in unison stand against the move.

Taking it to new high, the protests have now been moved to national capital New Delhi where Jallikattu protesters are camping at Jantar Mandir. This has become a worrisome to Centre and even PM Modi is closely monitoring the situation as it’s a sensible matter.

However, what’s striking is that the people of Andhra Pradesh couldn’t do even after Special Category Status was denied by Centre that was promised in parliament by the former PM during the passing of AP Reorganisation Bill.

When the state of AP was divided unilaterally, people in AP couldn’t make it effective protest despite getting a raw deal. When film stars and politicians are unitedly fighting in Tamil Nadu for culture, many allege that the actors and politicians in AP have colluded and compromised even when the bright future of next generations is at stake.

Why has people of AP failed in preserving own rights? Even now there’s a lot of uncertainty hanging in AP as there’s no clarity on the funds from Centre to the truncated state yet.

Will AP now inspire from TN’s spirit and follows its footsteps?
