Asaduddin Owaisi became the first man in India to question the conferment of the ‘Bharat Ratna’, the country’s highest civilian award on Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
At a book launch event in Hyderabad, Asaduddin referred to an old video clip of Vajpayee. “Have we forgotten Dec 5, 1992? The same Atal Bihari Vajpayee who had said ‘we are going to level the ground’ has now been given the Bharat Ratna,” said Asaduddin.
In reply, BJP leader and Union Minister of State, Mukhtar Naqvi Abbas questioned sarcastically whether the Bharat Ratna should have been conferred on Osama Bin Laden.
With the MIM now deciding on a more aggressive foray on to the national scene, it is but natural that winning the Muslim and Dalit vote in the Hindi heartlands can only be at the expense of the BJP. Anti-BJP is pro-Muslim.
And Asaduddin is just following that diktat. Else, how can he question the award to a true patriot and wonderful statesman like Vajpayee?
