This Congress MLA skipped Rahul Gandhi’s Warangal meet

Despite the heavy turnout for the Rythu Sangharshana Sabha in Warangal, there are several worrying signs for the Congress Party in Telangana. The Congress has not succeeded in putting up a united front. The divisions and differences were too stark to be brushed aside. The sad part is that it was too visible on the stage itself.

Party MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy absented himself from the meeting. He was not even present during the preparatory meetings and when the actual meeting was held, he was nowhere to be seen. Not just that. His elder brother and MP Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy was there at the public meeting, but he was adopting a “touch me not” approach.

His speech was brief and he was not seen mingling with the people on the dais. He stayed aloof from the proceedings on the stage. Also, the mobilization from his district, Nalgonda, was minimal. He was unhappy over TPCC chief Revanth Reddy trying to mobilise people using the leaders from the anti-Komatireddy faction.

Another shocking show of dissonance was keeping party’s spokesperson and the finest translator of English and Hindi speeches – Shravan Dasoju. Instead of him, former minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu took over and his translation was insipid and uninspiring. This made many in the audience ask as to where Dasoju Shravan was. Thus, instead of bringing about unity, the meeting has exposed the faultlines within the Telangana Congress .
