A special screening of critically acclaimed Bollywood flick ‘Piku’ was arranged for President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan recently. BJP senior LK Advani, Pranab’s Daughter Sharmistha and Amitabh Bachchan who played the lead in the movie too were present for the screening.
During the course of the movie, Pranab Mukherjee had actually burst out laughing at many times and he thoroughly enjoyed the flawless Bengali-Hindi accent. Big B even narrated few behind-the-scene tales to the trio on this occasion.
Post the screening, Pranab invited Amitabh for lunch and its then the President shared the merits of the film with the 72-Year-Old Actor. Mr. Bachchan wrote on his blog that he is indebted to Pranab for finding time to watch the movie & felicitating the team.
Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Piku’, a slice-of-life rib-tickler, is based on Father-Daughter relationship. While Amitabh Bachchan plays a selfish elderly gentleman suffering from constipation, Deepika Padukone breathes life into the character of a selfless daughter who cares for her father and kepts spending her time listening to his constipation tales rather than giving priority to her professional career & marriage.
