Along with the other States and Union Territories, the massive vaccination drive against the novel Coronavirus pandemic was started in Andhra Pradesh on January 16, 2021.
It is said that Andhra Pradesh has successfully managed to vaccinate not less than 19,108 frontline workers on the first day of the vaccination drive on Saturday. The vaccinated workers translate to nearly 61 percent of the frontline workers.
According to the media reports, East Godavari district, the worst-effect region in terms of Coronavirus outbreak saw 33 vaccination sessions, the highest in the state on Saturday.
On the other hand, Guntur registered a higher number of vaccinations on Saturday, with not less than 2,274 beneficiaries getting administered the vaccines to beat the pandemic.
It is said that Andhra Pradesh failed to reach the target with the beneficiaries in several districts not expressing their willingness to get vaccinated with the vaccine.
332 dedicated vaccination centers were selected in Andhra Pradesh for the vaccination. Many vaccination centers, including the Prakasham district, didn’t reach the expected target.
B. Pushpa Kumari who works as a sweeper in the Health Department in Andhra Pradesh received the first vaccine dose at the Vijayawada Government General Hospital(GGH).
Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan heaped praises on the Indian scientists and doctors who played a crucial role in manufacturing the potential vaccine and paving way for the vaccine drive.
