Senior actress Jayaprada has joined the BJP and is likely to get an MP ticket as well. Jayaprada was earlier with Samajwadi Party (SP). She was expelled from it as the party claimed that she was indulging in anit-party activities. Then Jayaprada joined RLD and in 2014 she contested for the Lok Sabha and lost.
In the recent times, Jayaprada looked at Telugu Desam but she could not decide anything. Finally this once upon a time glamour queen is now into the saffron fold. BJP is considering to field Jayaprada from Rampur from Uttar Pradesh. In the past she had represented this Lok Sabha constituency twice and is likely to have an edge. However, Samajwadi Party’s big leader Azam Khan is in race of behalf of SP, BSP and RLD alliance and it is going to be a tough battle.
BJP had won 72 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh in the last elections. As there is anti-incumbency against the BJP led NDA government, the saffron party is picking new faces instead of the sitting MPs. Jayaprada falls under this category.
