Vijay Deverakonda: I think dictatorship is better than democracy

Vijay Deverakonda is one actor who is watched very closely – both professionally and personally – by the majority of the nation’s people. This is exactly why the actor should always be very careful about what he says and does in public.

However, this is exactly what Vijay has now done, which is bringing him a lot of unnecessary attention from everywhere. In a recent interview with Anupama Chopra and Bharadwaj Rangan of Bollywood, on Film Companion, Vijay passed some controversial statements that are now blowing up on social media, in the actor’s face. The original interview was released on September 1st on YouTube, and on October 8th, a deleted snippet was released, which is now the reason for all the fuss.

When asked about if he would ever join politics in the future, Vijay said that he doesn’t believe in democracy, and said that he thinks that dictatorship is the best way to rule a country. He even said that not everyone should be allowed to vote as the people are not sure why and who they’re voting for. He even said that the country would get so much better with dictatorship, in just 5-10 years, even if no one realises it. Furthermore, Vijay said that rich people shouldn’t get to vote, and that only the middle class people, who are not swayed by money and bribes should be the only people who get to vote.

Reacting to Vijay’s statements, many netizens have called him out for his insensitive statements, and some have even said that nothing better can be expected from a man who played a misogynistic role in Arjun Reddy. Another user questioned if Vijay was really serious, or if he was just trying to market his upcoming film with a little negative publicity.
