Amid growing protests over the Vizag Steel Plant privatisation row, Actor-turned-politician, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan visited the national capital Delhi earlier this week and requested the Centre to rake back the decision.
Now the leaders of the Andhra Pradesh wing of Bharatiya Janata Party who have been facing wrath since the issue surfaced met the Delhi leaders of the BJP to discuss the Steel Plant issue.
AP BJP leaders, state chief Somu Veerraju, former Union Minister Purandeswari, MLC Madhav, former Minister Adinarayana Reddy met union Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The meeting is said to have lasted for half an hour.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Somu Veerraju said, the agenda behind the meeting is to explain the sentiments of the people on the Vizag Steel Plant row. He requested the Union Minister to search for alternate steel plants, leaving the Vizag plant.
The State Chief said that he has also put a proposal before the Union Steel Minister to merge the steel plant with the public sector bodies just like how the banks were merged.
We have to wait and see whether the repeat requests from the ally party Jana Sena and AP wing of the BJP would make the Central government change its decision. If the same happens, it would give a major boost to the BJP in the state ahead of the Municipal Polls and Tirupati by-elections.
