Proving yet again that he is the modern ‘Chanakya’ of new-age politics, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu brilliantly chalked out ‘Operation Akarsh’, with the support of his scion-TDP National General Secretary Nara Lokesh. The father-son duo managed to rope in 5 MLAs from YSR Congress Party and many more likely to follow.
So far, 5 MLAs and a MLC from YSRCP have crossed into TDP giving a rude shock to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who claimed to topple Mr Naidu’s government. Interestingly, two days after the Jagan’s statement, the political situation in AP turned completely in favour of TDP.
Although the exodus of MLAs from YCP to TDP is expected, no one thought that none other than the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Bhuma Nagi Reddy would come out of Jagan team and join TDP.
Also, the fact that Bhuma family is very close to YV Subba Reddy who in turn is staunch follower of Jagan, Bhuma’s joining in TDP definitely shocked many in the political fraternity. With the entry of YCP leaders, although there was initial resistance from TDP leaders, CBN managed to convince them.
Mr Naidu reportedly offered to give seats to them in the coming elections pointing out that more Assembly constituencies would soon come into force with constituencies’ reorganization. It’s estimated that present number of 175 constituencies would be increased to 225.
While Naidu chalked out the plan, it was Lokesh who executed it perfectly. In both ways, Naidu, Lokesh have played it very smart and strengthened both party and the government. Naidu and Lokesh have already devised the 2019 poll strategy in AP.
