What’s Wrong With These Star Comedians?

Telugu film industry is blessed with innumerable talented comedians. If a comedian achieves stardom, he can earn on par with big heroes. These comedians however don’t seem content with stardom and earnings and unnecessarily strive to prove themselves as heroes. Many some have tried, burnt their hands and came back to comedian roles, leaving huge holes in producers’ pockets in the process.

The likes of Brahmanandam, Ali, Venu Madhav etc. have all tried playing lead roles. Sunil, who turned a hero when he was at peak as comedian, has recently divulged his decision of making comeback as comedian after delivering a series of duds and taking a heavy beating financially and popularity-wise. Vennela Kishore had also tried his hand at direction and lead roles earlier and failed. He then stuck to comedian roles and became the top comedian now.

Sapthagiri entered film industry as an assistant director, then turned a comedian and became a star. Predictably, he was also lured into the hostile trend of ‘star comedians turning heroes’. As per trade reports, his debut film as hero, ‘Sapthagiri Express’ was an average venture at box office largely because of the support extended by fans of Pawan Kalyan.

Now, he is shooting for his second film as hero. Titled ‘Sapthagri LLB, it is the remake of hit Hindi film, ‘Jollly LLB’. The unit is reportedly canning romantic duets in Switzerland. Considering the limitations of his film’s reach, Sapthagiri should ideally plan to wrap up the film in the minimum possible budget. The producer however seems to be splurging money on songs, which are generally considered redundant in the films starring comedians. This will hike the film’s budget and might bring in losses even if the film gets received well.

Will Sapthagiri mend his ways after witnessing a career like that of Sunil?
