AP Government under YSRCP and CM YS Jagan has decided to give welfare priority and slowly they are hoping improve revenue streams of the state. For them to concentrate on a powerful star like Pawan Kalyan’s film releases and ticket prices issue in general when they want to be known as a government for welfare and for poor, seems a little suicidal.
Not that because of films and film industry ticket prices issue, people will vote out a government but this will definitely unite those groups of fanatic youth who worship Pawan Kalyan as God to work against Government.
Why would someone take such risk just because of a political rivalry that is still in nascent stage? Janasena, Pawan Kalyan’s political party doesn’t have a vote share of 30% to really make a difference in general elections.
They might have 5-8% for now. With increasing targeted harrasment or perceived as harrasment treatment, it can only go up but not come down. AP Government brought GO to restrict prices during the release of Vakeel Saab and now, for Bheemlanayak, according to fans, they are strictly sending MROs, Collectors to villages to check if the rates are being tampered with.
Government might say that they are just following protocol after issuing a GO but many perceive it as Pawan Kalyan vs AP Government. Chiranjeevi, Mahesh, Nagarjuna, Prabhas, Rajamouli have been in constant touch with government to change their perceptions and allow for better ticket rates.
Chiranjeevi even pleaded CM Jagan to think off them as their children who are in dire need. Still, the issue is prevalent. May be before RRR release or Radhe Shyam release new GO might come out with revised rates.
But the real question here is who is benefitting from all this? Pawan Kalyan is richer by four more films and above 40 crores remuneration for each, as Vakeel Saab and Bheemlanayak are big hits from him.
He can use this “perceived harrasment” and without directly stating anything can ask his followers to fight with him against the government. There is a chance that he and his followers take it as their major objective for 2024 elections to work against YSRCP.
Telugu Desam Party has 36% -40% vote share and if JSP joins them along with few others in 2024, there is a good chance of the vote share going to 44-45% which will be enough to topple the government in a close election.
There are two full years before AP state assembly once again faces elections. Whoever is working closely with CM as advisors should look at this equation and rather than coming up with numbers that are unbelievable like 60% positive buzz for YCP government, truth should be told. Hope that will be the case and government will focus on other important issues.
