At a time when the Munugode bypoll campaign is reaching a crescendo, why did TRS boss and Chief Minister KCR suddenly rush to New Delhi? Though ostentatious reason proffered is to pay last respects to departed Samajwadi leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, political observers say there could be other reasons too for the visit to Delhi.
They argue that he could have gone to Lucknow and returned to Hyderabad. But he chose to make a stopover in Delhi. What more, his daughter and MLC Kalwakuntla Kavitha too accompanied him. Highly placed sources say that this sudden stopover in Delhi has got to do with the latest developments in the infamous Delhi liquor scam, in which some persons believed to be close to the ruling family in Telangana are involved.
The latest is that Abhishek Boyinpalli, who is closely connected with several MLAs, MPs and especially MLC Kavitha Kalwakuntla, has been taken to Delhi for questioning. Abhishek, who has been tight-lipped so far, could spill the beans about the scam in the days to come. Hence, both KCR and his daughter air-dashed to Delhi from Lucknow.
The BJP would do everything it can to ensure that at least some members of the KCR family are linked to the Delhi liquor scam. Already several businessmen and middlemen considered close to the KCR family have been questioned in the scam. Abhishek Rao, who has close connections with the ruling family has already been arrested. It is because of his shifting to Delhi that KCR and Kavitha have rushed to Delhi, argue highly placed sources. While nothing can be confirmed as of now, it is clear that the liquor scam is coming back to haunt the ruling family of Telangana.
