Raghunandan Rao’s recent victory in the elections has upset the calculations in Medak district politics. The party, which till recently, had an unopposed stint despite having a Congress MLA, is now finding that Raghunandan Rao is no pushover.
Recently the ZP meet of Siddipet district was held. As a newly elected MLA, Raghunandan was provided with a seat next to Minister Harish Rao as per protocol. However, Harish Rao chose to skip the meeting. The minister’s absence at the meeting gave rise to lot of speculations. Many felt that given the rivalry between Harish and Raghunandan, Harish may have chosen to skip the meeting.
However, the ZP officials, including chairperson, have largely ignored the presence of Raghunandan Rao. He was not introduced to the ZP officials. Nor was he given an opportunity to speak. Raghunandan Rao raised this issue at the end of the meeting and told the media that he would not allow the monopoly of the ruling party. He also said that the officials were not sticking to the agenda fixed ahead of the meeting. He said from the next meeting onwards, he would wage a battle against the errant officials who are working as the unofficial members of the TRS.
