Why is Rahul Gandhi not campaigning in West Bengal?

Rahul Gandhi, the past and future president of the Congress Party, is busy campaigning in Kerala and Assam. But, did you note that he is not campaigning in all-important West Bengal, whose election result is set to re-define politics in India? Why is Rahul Gandhi not campaigning in West Bengal?

He is focusing only on Assam and Kerala, where the party is locked in very important battles. In both the states, the Congress is vying for either the first or second position. But in West Bengal, the Congress Party is in alliance with the Left Front. So, how will Rahul Gandhi defend the left in West Bengal and criticise it in Kerala? He will have a lot of explanation to give if he does that. Hence Rahul Gandhi is not campaigning in West Bengal. Similarly, even Priyanka Gandhi is not campaigning in West Bengal.

As a result, the Congress campaign has turned out to be a complete non-starter in West Bengal. No leader of substance is campaigning for the party. Seniors like Ghulam Nabi, Shashi Tharoor and others are also keeping away from the campaign in West Bengal.
