Is Prashant Kishore planning to leave the company of Trinamool Congress chief Mamta Banerjee? Is he trying to join hands with another powerful regional satrap to realise his dream of unseating Modi? What explains his recent meeting with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar?
Sources say that soured relations with Mamta Banerjee have forced PK to look for other pastures. Mamta has been upset that PK is influencing her heir and nephew Abhishek Banerjee. Mamta Banerjee feels that over dependence on PK would alienate the senior leaders of the party. It is mainly the fear of alienating the seniors that has put Abhishek in his place.
Meanwhile, PK’s team has earned the wrath of the party leaders in Goa, which went to elections recently. The Goan leaders literally rebelled against PK and refused to cooperate with his team. Realising that Mamta will keep him away, PK has met Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. The irony is Nitish is the first leader he approached after falling out with Modi in 2015. Nitish made him the vice-president of the party, but they soon parted ways.
But, will Nitish risk alienating the BJP, which has more seats than his party? Will he join hands with the RJP, led by Tejaswi Yadav? Will this alliance work? Will he end up becoming a puppet in the hands of RJD? Will Nitish trust him in the first place as he realizes the ambitions of PK? Suddenly, far from uniting the opposition and forming an anti-Modi alliance, PK is finding himself with no backers for his plans.
