Andhra Pradesh Chief Minsiter YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, and the YSRCP government, on the whole, got a major shock today, with the Andhra Pradesh High Court announcing its verdict on the 3 Capitals issue. The AP HC ordered the government to develop Amaravati as the sole capital of AP and to implement the CRDA bill passed by the previous government.
The AP government and the AP High Court never saw eye to eye on various issues, with the judgements for most of the cases against the AP government being ruled against the AP government. This is the same thing that has happened this time around, in the case of the 3 capitals that were proposed by the Jagan government. Several times in the past, the YSRCP government, and even Chief Minister Jagan went to the Supreme Court when they weren’t satisfied with the AP HC’s ruling.
It is now being speculated by many that Jagan and the YSRCP government could as well go to the SC this time as well, in the 3 Capitals matter, hoping to get a different verdict. Given that the SC rarely gave a different judgement than the AP HC, it would be interesting to see what the SC’s ruling would be if the Jagan government decides to approach the SC for this matter. One thing is for sure though, the YSRCP government would be belittling itself if it goes against the HC’s judgement this time, especially since the rest of the state is celebrating the HC’s verdict.
