It now appears almost certain that the last chief minister of the undivided Andhra Pradesh Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy is going to become the president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee. Kiran Kumar Reddy, who has been maintaining a low profile all these years, has recently met AICC chief Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and discussed the current political situation in the state.
Kiran Kumar Reddy stayed for three days in Delhi, but ensured that his movements were not known to anyone. He kept such low profile that only after the meeting was over did the media get to know about the meeting. He met Sonia Gandhi and discussed politics for close to one hour. What transpired at the meeting is not known as Kiran Kumar Reddy did not meet any mediaperson and left for his Hyderabad home.
Sources say that the High Command has asked him to strengthen the Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh. It may be recalled that the term of incumbent PCC chief Sake Sailajanath is coming to an end. So, Kiran Kumr Reddy is likely to replace him.
However, some political watchers say that Kiran Kumar Reddy may not have much impact as he is seen as someone who did not oppose the bifurcation despite being vocal against it. They feel that he had only paid lip service and did nothing more. It remains to be seen what would be Kiran Kumar Reddy’s final decision on the issue.
