Till recently, he was the president of the AP unit of the TDP. Today, he is almost unsung and unheard of. Kala Venkat Rao, once considered a party heavy weight from North Andhra is almost silent. Nothing is heard from him, not even a statement criticising the ruling YSRCP.
Sources close to him say that the North Andhra strongman is unhappy with the way the party leadership has treated him. He feels that after his replacement as the AP unit president, he has not been properly rehabilitated. He wanted to promote his son as a candidate for Etcherla assembly constituency. But that did not happen as there was opposition from within the party. His biggest worry is that Lokesh Babu, who was quite friendly till recently, has stopped contacting him. He has suddenly become so unwanted within the party.
The biggest problem is that there is growing opposition to Kala Venkat Rao and his son within Etchela constituency. The locals are questioning his attempts to get an MLA ticket for his son. They are asking why should they sacrifice their future for Kala Venkat Rao’s son. All these have made Kala Venkat Rao sullen.
