A Chinese lady who was awarded life imprisonment for corruption in 2005 successfully escaped from going to jail since then by getting pregnant 13 times in a span of 10 years. The incident took place in the Xinjiang Province. Zeng, now 39 years old, claimed pregnancy 14 times, of which one was fake.
The Urumqi Intermediate People’s Court sentenced Zeng to life imprisonment on October 17, 2005. However, Zeng was pregnant at that time and the court gave her a probation period before her jail term. Utilizing the provision in the law to her advantage after the probation, Zeng told the court that she was pregnant again and the court again gave her probation, after which she went for an abortion.
Zeng continued to lie in front of court since 2006 and claimed 14 pregnancies and got probation and went for abortions on all the occasions. However, the Municipal Bureau of Justice resubmitted the suggestion to put Zeng in jail to Urumqi Intermediate People’s Court recently. After a decade, Zeng finally started to serve her life sentence in prison.
