Social media had become toxic and celebrities are often trolled. Of late, cricketers are getting heavy trolls and hate messages. Earlier we have seen how Virat Kohli’s daughter Vamika was threatened. The person who sent the threats was a well-read person and he is an IIT graduate. The trend is very dangerous and concerning as well.
As another example, Gujarat Titans star player Shubman Gill’s sister was targeted by trollers. It is known that he played a match-winning knock against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and took his team into the playoffs. RCB fans could not digest this and started trolling the cricketer. They even trolled his family members and Sister.
The issue went to the notice of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) and the body is not happy with that. Serious with the trolling, the body said that those who are indulged in this will not be spared and strict action will be taken against the guilty.
Citing the example of what happened in Vamika’s issue, the Women’s Commission said that action will be initiated and no one will be spared. The Chief Of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) took to Twitter to share her dissatisfaction over this.
“Extremely shameful to see trollers abusing #ShubhmanGill’s sister just because the team they follow lost a match. Previously we had initiated action against people abusing #ViratKohli’s daughter. DCW will take action against all those who have abused Gill’s sister as well. This shall not be tolerated!” Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal tweeted.
What happened is objectionable and this cannot be entertained. Winning and losing are a part of the game and taking things personally is not good. Shubman Gill had not done anything wrong and he just played for his team. But his family became the target without any mistakes.
Talking about the match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Guajart Titans, RCB scored 197 with Rohit Sharma scoring a century. Gujarat Titans chased the target with Shubman Gill’s century. RCB was knocked out of the tournament and the fans are not happy with this and started trolling the player and his family members.
