YS Sharmila, president of newly formed YSR Telangana Party, has been arrested by the Medipally police on Tuesday arrested for defying the police orders.
Despite being denied permission, Sharmila tried to stage a 12-hour fast at Boduppal exhibition grounds on the outskirts of Hyderabad. It was announced that the Deeksha would continue until the evening. With this, the party workers and leaders reached the spot.
When she tried to reach Boduppal for the same, the cops arrested her, saying that she had no permission and she was taken into custody. She was shifted to Medipally police station on the Hyderabad-Warangal highway.
Sharmila first visited the family of Ravindra, an unemployed youth who committed suicide. After this, she intended to stage a protest in solidarity with the unemployed youth. However, police interrupted her plans.
With the arrest of Sharmila, a large number of YSRTP workers reached the police station and demanded to release of their leader immediately. Later, she was shifted to Ghatkesar police station.
