Will it be May or July? That’s seems to be the question before YS Sharmila these days. While a strong section of the party wants her to float a new party in May and undertake a state-wide padayatra, Sharmila herself is said to be inclined to launch the party in July on YSR Jayanthi.
On Monday, Sharmila held a key meeting at the Lotus Pond with several leaders from Khammam. In fact, she was to visit Khammam on February 21, but had to defer the meet in view of the upcoming Graduate Constituency MLC elections. The leaders from Khammam reportedly suggested that she undertake a state-wide padayatra. Sharmila is said to be holding meetings with the leaders from various parts of the state to ascertain their views on forming a new party. The response is encouraging, say those closer to her.
However, several leaders felt that July would be too long and that she should come out with her party at the earliest. They feel that the party should also test its strength in the MLC elections, which are a month away. However, Sharmila is said to have argued that laying firm foundations for the party is more important than just contesting elections.
