The removal of former CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s photo from AP Legislative Assembly has invited the wrath of YSR Congress Party legislators. Upset with the move, the YSRCP MLAs decided to protest in front of Speakers’ Chamber and Assembly. Alleging that it’s biased ruling, MLAs pointed out that they have not been served any notices regarding the removal of photo of the former CM in prior. However, the leaders of ruling TDP trashed the allegations of YSR Congress.
In general, it’s a norm to display the photographs of Legislative Speakers of House in the Assembly lounge. Only the photos of Speakers who served the house would be put on display and no photo of CM would be kept in lounge. Contrary to this tradition, Congress, which was in then ruling, had put late CM YSR’s photo.
Assembly In-charge secretary K Satyanarayana directed the staff to remove YSR’s photo from the lounge under this tradition. It’s buzzed that Mr Satyanarayana acted with the directions from Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Rao. Reports have it that YSRCP is now mulling over to do protests over the issue and took this into the notice of public.
