YSRCP MLA Dharmasri resigns to support 3 capital plan

In an interesting development, YSRCP MLA Karanam Dharmasri has resigned to his MLA post in support of the 3 capitals plan, which now has been put on hold. It is known that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has been opposing the decentralization idea ever since the beginning and demanding to make Amaravathi as the only capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Recently, a non-political JAC was formed as the centre of Visakhapatnam. YSRCP leaders made important comments on this platform. Dharmasri revealed that if the farmers of Amaravati oppose Visakha as the capital, they will also oppose Amaravati. Former minister Avanthi Srinivas also told the JAC leaders that he is ready to resign.

In his letter, MLA Karanam Dharmasri said, “I am consciously submitting my resignation to support the establishment of the executive capital at Visakhapatnam.”

For the unversed, as per YSRCP’s decentralisation bill, Andhra Pradesh will have three capitals: the executive capital in Visakhapatnam, the legislative capital in Amaravati and the judicial capital in Kurnool.
