YSRCP violating human rights: Chandrababu Naidu

TDP Chief and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu condemned the Nellore police personnel and the YSRCP government for acting in a very inhumane way when a poor Dalit farmer Venkaiah ended his life by consuming pesticide in Venkannapalem in Nellore district.

The sad thing was that police personnel were standing right in front of the farmer when he did this, but no one bothered to stop him or rush him to the hospital immediately after. The farmer ended his life after repeatedly being abused by policemen – physically and verbally – while he was at work in his farm. Unable to take their harassment anymore, he drank the pesticide that was supposed to be used on the farm.

The farmer refused to give away his land, and even the High Court gave an order against taking his land in Survey No. 131, but neither the government, nor the revenue department stopped from harassing the poor farmer.

Chandrababu Naidu questioned the government and the concerned officials in still pursuing the poor farmer without leaving him alone, even after the High Court gave orders to leave him alone. He said that this was an act of violating human rights, and behaving in a very barbaric manner. He also said that the government’s policies were in no way in the favor of the people, and only served the government.

Chandrababu Naidu also said that TDP would stand by the farmere’s family, and will make sure that justice is served to Venkaiah, by seeing to it that the concerned officials are punished.
