The unit of ‘Zanjeer’ has been receiving brickbats from the well known Bollywood critics for the poor handling of the remake of a landmark film. Ram Charan might be the first star hero of Tollywood to get a ‘Zero’ rating.
CNN-IBN reviewer Rajiv Masand commented that ‘Zanjeer’ isn’t just a bad film but a shameless exercise in laziness. Here is his take on the new ACP Vijay Khanna. Ram Charan in fact, is a successful and popular star in Telugu films, comes off as stiff as a wax statue in his Bollywood debut, with barely any emotion, forget brooding anger. His biceps pop out of his uniform, but he barely flexes his facial muscles. Ram Charan never gets under the skin of Vijay Khanna, making it hard to look beyond his kohl-lined eyes and his neatly styled hair”.
The reviewer described the attempt of Apoorva Lakhia & Co., as just to cash in on the brand value of 1973’s path-breaking flick ‘Zanjeer’. He even commented original scriptwriters Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar who fought for the copyrights compensation should consider donating some part of their out-of-court settlement towards admitting the team of ‘Zanjeer’ in a film school.
