Another current movie Kalki 2898AD starring Prabhas is creating a new record in the box office all over India. For the regional audiences, more specifically for the Telugu speaking states, this movie is a runaway hit and in the Hindi belts too, it’s an even bigger hit. Prior to the release of ‘Kalki’, there was another bollywood film ‘Munjya’ in which a character created through CGI was the protagonist and the film was positively at the box-office.
The trailer for “Munjya” created a good buzz and it was highly appreciated by the people, therefore, it collected a great amount at the box office. Although “Kalki 2898AD” which was earlier released and was doing more than 90 crore net collections some questioned whether “Munjya” could further its position and could easily reach 100 crore.
However, Munjya has been playing in theatres for 25 days and has entered the 100 crore club. This is important because it is the first Bollywood movie with a CGI character in the lead role earning this status.
However, the film “Munjya” has still been successful in drawing the audience and enjoying a good business at the box office against the “Kalki 2898AD”. This achievement is the best proof of the film’s niche interest and the presence of a loyal audience.
Therefore “Munjya” has set a new trend in Hindi cinema as this is the first CGI film which grossed more than 100 crore and this happened when it was in competition with a heavy film like “Kalki 2898AD. “
