Sriimurali’s Telugu Debut: A Tale of Aspiration and Action

0

Kannada cinema’s rising star, Sriimurali, is all set to make his Telugu debut with Bagheera. Directed by Dr. Suri, the film is generating significant buzz, especially considering its intriguing storyline penned by the acclaimed filmmaker, Prasanth Neel.

Dr. Suri shared insights into the film’s genesis, revealing that he was originally intended to collaborate with Yash on a different project. However, due to the extensive production schedule of the KGF franchise, the project was put on hold. Despite this, the director maintains a strong bond with Yash, often discussing story ideas and potential collaborations.

Turning to Bagheera, Dr. Suri explained that Prasanth Neel had offered a compelling story idea during the development of KGF. The director spent nearly two years refining the narrative, ensuring that it would resonate with audiences. While the film is undoubtedly an action-packed extravaganza, it is also deeply rooted in emotion. Each action sequence is underpinned by a strong emotional core, making it a truly immersive cinematic experience.

At its heart, Bagheera is a tale of aspiration and transformation. It follows the journey of an ordinary young man who dreams of becoming a real-life superhero. The film delves into the challenges he faces, the sacrifices he makes, and the impact he has on society.

Prasanth Neel, who recently watched the film, was reportedly thrilled with the final product. His positive feedback further solidifies the film’s potential to captivate audiences and establish Sriimurali as a pan-Indian star.

India among 1st nations to implement exclusive biotechnology policy

0

New Delhi, Oct 28 (IANS) India is among the first nations to implement an exclusive biotechnology policy, said Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh on Monday.

The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology said this at the inauguration of the new complex of India’s first Biomanufacturing Institute.

While addressing the assembly of scientists, industry leaders, and stakeholders, Singh underscored the government’s robust prioritisation of science and technology. He was referring to the recent landmark decisions such as the newly launched BioE3 policy.

This initiative, which stands for biotechnology in the service of the economy, employment, and the environment, exemplifies the administration’s focus on fostering a high-impact science sector.

“Biotechnology and synthetic production will not only transform agriculture but redefine India’s role in global scientific advancements,” stated the Minister.

An exclusive biotechnology policy, he emphasised, “Will propel a significant transformation from traditional manufacturing to synthetic production.”

This will be achieved through sustainable, eco-friendly solutions that rely on modern, cost-effective technology, the Minister said.

He attributed the government’s science-focused strategy to India’s rapid rise from “fragile five” to “first five” in global economic standing.

Meanwhile, the newly launched “BRIC-National Agri-Food Bio-Manufacturing Institute” (BRIC-NABI) aims to enhance India’s agri-food sector through advanced biotechnology.

The Minister also inaugurated the BioNest Incubation Centre, designed as a collaborative hub for industry partnerships, innovation, and public-private initiatives to nurture startups, at the BRIC-NABI campus.

The Center aims to empower local youth, women, and farmers by supporting startups in agriculture, food, and bioprocessing, bridging research with industry for faster commercialisation of agri-food innovations.

BioNEST aligns with the “Make in India” vision and also aims to advance India’s journey toward self-reliance.

Singh also called for active private sector involvement to unlock market potential and provide sustainable employment for India’s young workforce.

Nawazuddin’s mother bridges the gap between him and brother Shamas

0

Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his brother Shamas have reunited for the upcoming film ‘Bole Chudiyan’. This collaboration came at the heartfelt insistence of their mother.

The Siddiqui brothers experienced a period of estrangement that left fans wondering if they would ever work together again. However, their mother’s desire for them to reconcile played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between them. A source close to the development revealed that this resolution was made possible through their mother’s persistent efforts.

The conflict between them began due to issues involving Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife, Aliya. Following the altercation between Aliya and Nawazuddin, both the children and Aliya found themselves without a home. The insider added that Shamas, noticing the children crying on the street, felt compelled to support them as their uncle, which led to a significant disagreement between the brothers. As a result, they ceased all communication with one another.

This misunderstanding took a toll on their professional collaboration, particularly affecting their film ‘Bole Chudiyan’, which was completely stalled. Eventually, their mother stepped in to help the brothers reunite. In a bid to move past their differences, they have once again joined forces. According to reports, both Nawazuddin and Shamas have signed an agreement with producer Rajesh Bhatia to complete the film so that it can be released as soon as possible. Work on the film will begin as soon as Nawazuddin returns from his overseas shoot. Meanwhile, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has reportedly been cast to play the antagonist in the upcoming vampire comedy ‘Thamba’.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the movie also stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles. Siddiqui’s character in “Thamb” is described as “eccentric yet violent,” originating from the ancient Vijayanagara Empire. Recently, Nawazuddin found himself in controversy following the release of an advertisement in which he was seen dressed as a Maharashtra police officer, encouraging people to play poker on the app.

In a recent industry development, the highly anticipated film directed by Sujith, which was initially set to be produced by DVV Danayya, has found a new home under the banner of Venkat Boyanapalli. The film, which was slated to star Nani in the lead role, was temporarily stalled due to scheduling conflicts with the lead actor and director.

Despite the initial setback, the project has not been shelved. Venkat Boyanapalli, known for backing successful films like Shyam Singha Roy, has stepped in to produce this action-packed mafia drama. This collaboration between Sujith and Nani has generated significant buzz, and fans are eager to see the duo reunite after their previous successful venture.

A source close to the production revealed that the decision to shift production houses was a strategic move. While DVV Danayya had his own reasons for stepping back, Venkat Boyanapalli’s enthusiasm for the project and his strong track record in delivering quality cinema made him the ideal choice to bring this film to life. The source further added, “It’s all about timing and vision. Venkat’s passion for the project was undeniable, and his involvement ensures that Sujith and Nani’s collaboration will continue to captivate audiences.”

As Sujith is currently busy with the post-production of OG starring Pawan Kalyan, the new film with Nani is expected to go on floors once he wraps up his current commitments. With a talented director, a charismatic actor, and a dedicated producer, this upcoming film is poised to be a significant addition to the Telugu film industry.

Germany recalled its ambassador to Iran and summoned the top Iranian envoy in Berlin on Tuesday following the execution of a German-Iranian national Jamshid Sharmahd. The 69-year-old was executed on Monday after being convicted last year in Iran.German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock ordered the ambassador’s recall, stating that Germany condemned the execution in the “strongest possible terms”.

“I condemn the murder of Jamshid Sharmahd by the Iranian regime. Abducted from Dubai to Iran and held for years without a fair trial, he was killed today. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family for this terrible loss,” Baerbock shared on X.

Baerbock noted that Germany had worked “tirelessly” to support Sharmahd, sending a high-ranking team from the Foreign Office to Tehran multiple times and emphasising to Iranian authorities that “the execution of a German citizen would have serious consequences.””The killing of Jamshid Sharmahd reveals the nature of the inhumane regime in Iran, which targets its youth, population, and foreign nationals with death sentences. Even under the new government, no one is safe in Iran,” she added.Germany’s foreign ministry confirmed that the Iranian charge d’affaires in Berlin was summoned on Tuesday, with “further measures” being considered.

Sharmahd was sentenced to death in February 2023 by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Court on charges related to his alleged involvement in a 2008 mosque attack in Shiraz that killed 14 people. His conviction fell under Iran’s “corruption on Earth” charge, a broad term often used for various offences linked to state or religious transgressions.

South Korean Prez, Zelensky strongly condemn North Korea-Russia military cooperation

0

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday strongly condemned North Korea’s troop deployment to Russia and vowed to actively share information on battlefields to coordinate countermeasures.

Yoon and Zelensky held the talks via phone as North Korea sent its troops to Russia’s Kursk region near the border with Ukraine for possible frontline deployment in what would be a major escalation in the ongoing war, Yonhap news agency reported.

“The two leaders condemned the illegal military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, including arms transfers and troop deployments, in the strongest terms and agreed to pursue strategic consultations for a joint response,” the presidential office said in a release.

Yoon said South Korea will not overlook the deepening military ties between Pyongyang and Moscow and vowed to take “phased measures” in response to the growing security threats.

“North Korea is taking unprecedented and dangerous steps by deploying special forces to Russia, beyond merely providing military support,” Yoon said, stressing the need for close communication and coordinated responses between South Korea and Ukraine.

Yoon expressed concern over the possibility of Moscow transferring sensitive military technology to Pyongyang in return for the troop deployment and North Korean forces gaining combat experience from the Ukraine conflict, which could pose a significant security risk to South Korea.

Zelensky expressed his gratitude for South Korea’s continued support, including the decision to send a government delegation to Kyiv.

He warned that North Korean troop deployments to Ukrainian front lines could signal an “unprecedented new phase” in the conflict and said Ukraine will dispatch a delegation to South Korea soon for further coordination.

Suriya and Jyothika: A Modern Family Dynamic

0

In a recent turn of events, the celebrated South Indian actress Jyothika, originally from Mumbai, has relocated back to her hometown. This decision, made in conjunction with her husband, the renowned actor Suriya, has sparked curiosity and speculation within the media.

However, Suriya has clarified that this move is far from a marital rift. Instead, it’s a strategic decision to provide his family with the best possible environment. The entire family, including their children, has shifted to Mumbai, while Suriya continues to balance his professional commitments in Chennai. He plans to spend approximately 20 days a month in Chennai for his work, and the remaining 10 days with his family in Mumbai.

Speaking about this decision during the promotions of his upcoming film, Kanguva, Suriya explained, “Jyothika is back in Mumbai, embracing her Bandra lifestyle. I believe that a woman deserves the same freedom and aspirations as a man. She needs her own space, her own connections, and a chance to reconnect with her roots. Why should I deprive her of that? It’s a realization I’ve come to recently. Additionally, our children are thriving in their studies here, pursuing subjects they are passionate about. So, I’ve decided to divide my time between Chennai and Mumbai to accommodate both our professional and personal lives.”

As Kanguva gears up for its release on November 14th, Suriya’s candid revelation offers a glimpse into the modern dynamics of his family. By prioritizing the well-being and happiness of his family, he sets an inspiring example for many.

Social Democratic Party wins Lithuania’s parliamentary runoff

0

Vilnius, Oct 29 (IANS) Lithuania’s opposition Social Democratic Party (LSDP) won the parliamentary election runoff, according to preliminary results of the Central Electoral Commission.

In the first round two weeks ago, LSDP won 20 seats in the Seimas, Lithuania’s parliament, and in the second round held on Sunday, the party secured 32 single-mandate constituencies, reports Xinhua news agency.

The ruling Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats came second in the elections and will provisionally have a faction of 28 members in the Seimas.

The Dawn of Nemunas will have 20 seats, followed by the Union of Democrats “For Lithuania” (DSVL) with 14. The Liberal Movement of the Republic of Lithuania will have 12 seats in the Seimas and the Lithuanian Peasant Popular Union (LVZS) eight.

“We, the Social Democrats, have achieved a historic victory, something we probably haven’t seen in decades,” LSDP leader Vilija Blinkeviciute told Baltic News Service (BNS) on Monday.

Blinkeviciute said negotiations on the formation of a coalition with both DSVL and LVZS will continue. The praesidium of LSDP will make the final decision on the governing coalition and then the council, she said, adding that the praesidium’s meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, while the council plans to vote next week.

If the coalition of the three parties is formed, they will become the ruling majority, with 74 out of 141 seats in the Seimas.

Gabrielius Landsbergis, chairman of TS-LKD, announced at a press conference on Monday that he is stepping down as the party’s leader after the Seimas elections. He told local media that he sees outgoing Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte as the party’s next leader.

Landsbergis also announced that he will not serve in the next Seimas, which means that the mandate will go to the next politician on the party’s list in the multi-member constituency.

Around 41.3 per cent of voters cast ballots in the second round, data from the Central Electoral Commission showed on Sunday night after the polls closed.

The turnout is higher than in the runoff round of parliamentary elections in 2020 but below this year’s first-round turnout.

In 2020, about 39.24 per cent of voters cast ballots in the second round, while a fortnight ago, in this year’s first-round election, the turnout reached 52.18 per cent.

Naim Qassem takes over as Hezbollah’s next chief

0

Tehran, Oct 29 (IANS) Iran-backed Hezbollah has announced that one of its founding members, 71-year-old Naim Qassem, who has served as Deputy Secretary General of the Lebanese group since 1991, will be its new chief.

A veteran figure in the group, which is designated as a terrorist organisation by several countries, Qassem succeeds Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed more than a month ago in an Israeli bombing.

On October 22, Israel confirmed that it had also eliminated Hashem Safieddine, the apparent successor of the former leader, in Beirut three weeks ago.

Qassem, one of the founders of Hezbollah in 1982, was elected Secretary General following a meeting of the Shura Council, the group’s central decision-making body of seven members, on Monday.

The council, while announcing its decision, maintained that Hezbollah will stand by its principles, goals and path to keep the flame of resistance alive and its banner held high until “final victory”.

Born in southern Lebanon in 1953, Qassem became the movement’s Deputy Secretary General in 1991 and continued to serve as Hezbollah’s second-in-command since then.

Ever since Nasrallah’s death, he has appeared in three televised speeches, assuring followers that Hezbollah will fight back even as it has been hit by a severe leadership crisis in the past few weeks.

“I am confident that these enemy aggressions will not weaken the nation of resistance and we will definitely win,” remarked Qassem last month in what was the first speech from a senior Hezbollah official after the assassination of Nasrallah in Israeli Air Force’s strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut.

The US State Department designated Hezbollah as a foreign terrorist organisation in October 1997.

More than 60 other countries and organisations, including the EU, the Arab League, and the Gulf Cooperation Council, have also designated Hezbollah — either in part or in its entirety — as a terrorist group.

Washington insists that Tehran continues to encourage and enable its various proxies and partners — including Hezbollah, Iranian-backed groups in Iraq and Syria, and the Houthis in Yemen — to conduct strikes against Israeli or US interests in the region.
