Ola Electric’s stock almost at its debut price, drops nearly 50 pc from highest level

0

Mumbai, Oct 25 (IANS) Bhavish Aggarwal-run Ola Electric saw its stock nosedive to almost its debut price of Rs 76 on Friday during the day’s trading, before closing at Rs 77.29 apiece.

After touching Rs 76.73 during the day’s trade, the EV firm’s stock closed marginally higher at Rs 77.29 apiece.

The EV company’s stock has fallen almost 50 per cent from its highest level of Rs 157.40.

Ola Electric’s shares were listed in August. After listing, a sharp rally was seen in the Ola Electric and the counter made an all-time high of Rs 157.40 before starting a steep fall.

According to market experts, the strong support of Rs 86 has broken in Ola Electric and the next target is Rs 75 and the “trend in the counter continues to be negative”.

Market watchers emphasised that once the share price goes below the IPO price and sustains at that level for some time, the counter is likely to face heavy institutional and retail selling due to poor company metrics like slow sales and service-related problems that have affected hundreds of Ola Electric customers.

The stock remains weak and selling is being seen at all levels. Due to the weakness, investors should stay away from this stock and invest in stocks with strong fundamentals, warn market experts.

According to the government portal Vahan, Ola Electric sold 24,665 e-scooters in September. In August, this figure was 27,587. Ola Electric’s flagship S1 series EV scooter has become a nightmare for hundreds of customers who are consistently facing issues like malfunctioning hardware and glitching software and spare parts are hard to come by, resulting in inordinate delays.

0

The World Justice Project (WJP) Rule of Law Index 2024 has ranked Pakistan as the world’s third worst nation among 142 countries, when it comes to maintaining the law and order situation.According to the report, Pakistan was ranked 140th along with Mali (141) and Nigeria (142) in terms of order and security.

Pakistan is referred to as a state where the military might is supreme and stands above all, thus putting the rights of people and the rule of law on an extremely poor footing, especially in the areas of civil and criminal justice.Among the areas most affected by the poor justice system include civil and criminal justice, fundamental rights, open government, corruption, regulatory enforcement and order and security.

The WJP index rated Pakistan’s global ranking at 129 out of a total of 142 countries assessed. With the top judges of the country fighting publicly against each other – claiming to be the savior of the country’s legal system – the WJP’s report is a serious blot on the country, exposing its deteriorating justice system and governance.

The WJP report factored in issues like constraints on government powers, absence of corruption, open government, fundamental rights, order and security, regulatory enforcement, civil justice and criminal justice to determine rule of law performance of a country. The report further highlighted that Pakistan’s global ranking in the area of criminal justice stands at 98 out of 142 countries. In the area of provision of civil justice, Pakistan stands at 128 out of 142 countries globally. In the area of regulatory enforcement, Pakistan’s global ranking remains at 127.

Pakistan is also ranked 125 in the field of fundamental rights and 124 in the field of absence of corruption. The World Justice Project is an independent, multidisciplinary organisation working to create knowledge, build awareness, and stimulate action to advance the rule of law worldwide. The WJP Rule of Law Index was first piloted in 2008. Russia reacts to Israeli airstrikes on Iran, terms it as ‘explosive escalation’

0

Russia on Saturday called for the earliest possible normalization of the military and political situation in the Middle East, urging all parties involved to prevent the situation from developing into a catastrophic scenario.

“We remain deeply concerned about the ongoing explosive escalation between Israel and Iran, which creates real threats to stability and security in the region. We are ready to work with all parties to reduce the level of confrontation… We must stop provoking Iran to respond and get out of the spiral of uncontrolled escalation,” said Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova in a media briefing.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced earlier in the day that they had successfully completed “precise and targeted strikes” against multiple military targets in Iran that posed an immediate threat to Israel. These strikes, conducted in three waves in collaboration with the Israeli Air Force (IAF), took place early Saturday in response to a ballistic missile attack on October 1, revealed IDF spokesman, Brigadier General Daniel Hagar.

Zakharova spotlighted that the IAF carried out airstrikes on a number of military facilities in the Iranian provinces of Tehran, Ilam and Khuzestan, in coordination with the United States.”According to the Iranian side, a significant portion of the aerial bombs could have been intercepted by the country’s air defence systems, which were on high alert. Apart from information about two Iranian servicemen, there were no reports of other casualties or injuries, primarily among the civilian population, including Russians living in Iran,” she mentioned.

“It is obvious that its root causes lie in the unresolved Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the well-known decisions of the UN Security Council and General Assembly, which provokes ever-increasing tension,” the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson added.Moscow also emphasised that it remains deeply concerned about the escalation of violence in Lebanon.

“There have been numerous reports of civilian casualties as a result of massive indiscriminate attacks on densely populated residential areas of Beirut and other Lebanese cities by the Israeli armed forces. Among the killed and wounded civilians are a large number of journalists and media workers,” said Zakharova.

She mentioned, that according to information available, on the night of October 25, the Israeli Air Force carried out airstrikes on a residential area of the city of Hasbaya in southern Lebanon, killing two employees of the Al-Mayadeen TV channel and a cameraman from the Al-Manar TV channel. Other media representatives were also wounded during the attack.

“It is absolutely clear that the Al-Mayadeen TV channel and its employees are the target of targeted attacks. This is another clear example of the desire of the Israeli military to eradicate any sources of alternative points of view on the events taking place in the region at any cost, without disdaining any means or methods,” remarked Zakharova.

The Russian MFA detailed that, since the beginning of the military operation in the Gaza Strip, about 140 media workers have died in the line of duty.
