Savitri Movie Review – 2.75/5
Nara Rohith is back with Savitri after his recently released Tuntari failed to live up to his expectations. Pavan Sadineni who has previously made Prema Ishq Kadhal is the director of Savitri. It is a romantic family drama with all the commercial elements thrown in to cater to the majority of film lovers. Is Savitri the movie that Rohith was waiting for?
Story :
Savitri (Nanditha) is born in a wedding ceremony and she always dreams of getting married. Savitri’s marriage is finally fixed with some x and while she is on a journey to Shirdi on a train she bumps into Rishi (Rohith), who falls in love with her in the first sight. Rishi isn’t aware of the fact that Savitri is the girl that his parents have seen for him. He messes up things and has to get things straight before Savitri is married to some NRI.
Performances:
Nara Rohith is okay as Rishi. There is nothing noteworthy about his performance. He tried his hand at commercial cinema and mouthed few punch dialogue. Nara family fans might be impressed to see Rohith in a mass avatar. Nanditha is good as Savitri. Murali Sharma gets another soft yet stubborn character. Ajay is good as a caring brother. Ravibabu, Posani, Prabhas Sreenu and Rajesh have done their best to keep us entertained.
Technicalities:
Pavan’s debut film was a different romantic drama. He has opted to do a commercial entertainer as his second film. Apart from few glimpses of directorial brilliance, Pavan has failed to deliver the goods for Savitri. His brand of humor may not impress many. Pavan should have made something different with Rohith as the actor is known for making offbeat films.
Music is alright but nothing exceptional about it. Cinematography is good. Dialogues are good in parts. Production values and the art work stands out. Each and every frame of the film looks grand.

Analysis:
Savitri suffers due to the half baked script. It is surprising to see many of Rohith’s films face the same problem. In spite of having interesting premise Rohith’s films fail as they are half baked. Savitri is no different. It has its moments but fails to hold the viewers interest all the way.
First half is so-so as the director follows a commercial template. Interval twist is okay but not entirely unpredictable. Second half is treated like a pure commercial film by glorifying the hero. A different approach to the second half might have made this an interesting movie but the director preferred to play safe.
Director focused upon the comedy but Savitri only offers occasional laughs. The script and treatment is too old that it gets boring as it moves forward. Rohith is clearly trying to break from the routine. However his real strength lies in the serious cinema. Casual characters are not his cup of tea. Maybe it’s time for a bit of introspection before he slides furthermore.
Verdict: Script is too old like its title.

Roja Losing Grip on Nagari?
In politics as much as being a fire brand it is also equally important in politics to stay calm and quiet when the time is not conducive. There are many such leaders who have more or less plunged into oblivion after some hungama. Here is another example for that.
Actress turned politician Roja has been working hard right from 2003 to become an MLA and her dream was realized only in 2014 from YSRCP than TDP. Usually leaders should balance works in their constituency and also wage fight against opposition.
Although initially she was seen in Nagari, slowly it only became manifested as fights and dharnas rather than development works. Now with her behavior in Assembly, she has been confined to fighting in courts and media interviews.
TDP has sensed a chance and knowing well that she only won 800 plus votes as majority, and slowly the party is weaning away some of her cadre into TDP. They are well aware that a person who doesn’t have his/her own strong hold will be shunted out eventually!
Will Not Happen, Mr. Vishnu
BJP Floor Leader in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, P Vishnu Kumar Raju made a good suggestion.
The first complaint against Agrigold was made in January 2015 in Nellore. Vishnu Kumar said that the company might have realized quite earlier that it would be getting into a serious mess and might have disposed of some of its properties much earlier.
Therefore, the investigation into the Agrigold scam by the CID should also pursue the transactions of the company one year prior to the lodging of the first complaint.
But in reality this will not happen because of the general perception among the public that Naidu is shielding the Agrigold scam accused.
Even the High Court has pulled up Naidu in vain on various occasions for the lethargic nature of the investigation.

Jagan says “CAG report exposed TDP’s government”
The YSRCP Chief YS. Jaganmohan Reddy has told that the report of the Comptroller and the Auditor General of India has exposed the nepotism of the TDP government in Andhra Pradesh. Jagan has cited from the report that funds were fudged by the government and he also said the CAG report has also mentioned the same irregularities which the YSRCP has also stated earlier.
Jagan has said that this shows the corrupted practices of the TDP government. Jagan was speaking to the reporters and has said that the just ended budget sessions of the state assembly has thrown out the steps which was used by the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to identify the defectors from being disqualified.
Jagan also has told that the TDP Party is not very sure about winning the people’s mandate and so he is making support to the YSRCP Legislators who has earlier defected the ruling party. He has told that they have done well by highlighting the people’s welfare but the state government has skirted many crucial issues.
The TDP’S weakness was exposed to the public, when the no-confidence motion which was taken against Chandrababu Naidu and the Speaker has bypassed the set rules and regulations only to turn the shield turncoats from being disqualified. Jagan also told that TDP has no boldness and courage to face the elections.

Kapu party in AP But Reddy Party in TS?
TDP is traditionally known as the party of Kammas in United AP and true to the perception, it has been used by this caste as a counterweight to the Reddy dominated Congress. Bifurcation and also emergence of YSRCP and TRS has changed all equations.
Now, although it still retains good chunk of BC voters in Telangana even after losing much of them to TRS, the TDP is now more or less being owned by non-Congress and non-TRS Reddys. It’s star attraction Revanth Reddy is making sure that other Reddys too join later!
In AP, with Jyothula Nehru too abandoning Jagan Mohan Reddy, other Kapu leaders are also expected to quit YSRCP. Babu is doing everything he can to stump Mudragada Padmanabham and make sure TDP retains Kapu vote bank even for 2019 elections.
The party lost Velamas in Telangana on a platter to TRS while it will continue to be dominated by Kammas. If TDP makes any dent in Jagan’s Reddy vote bank in Rayalseema, then the situation would become alarming for YSRCP!

No Cases Even If You Thrash Those People: Babu
AP CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu in a heated encounter with the YSRCP during the question hour in assembly sessions yesterday said that there won’t be any police cases if normal citizens thrash up the culprits in sand mafia. Babu said that sand mafia is one menace which should be uprooted in its early stages.
Stating that the AP government is the first in the country to give free sand, Babu said that those who resort to extorting money for sand or illegally export sand must be punished severely. Babu further said that people should use the free sand judiciously only as per their requirements.
In the wake of complaints and allegations of Rs. 2000 crore worth sand scam against the TDP leaders, Babu said that strict measures including PD act will be implemented against those who face corruption charges.
Babu further said that his government has finalized 491 authorized sand shores where commoners can pay the minimum labor charges and take free sand and that fraudsters will be put behind bars and their vehicles will be seized if found exporting the sand illegally.
