It looks like the days of Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Sujana Chowdary in the Telugu Desam Party are numbered.

Indications are that he might soon join the Bharatiya Janata Party, much to the embarrassment of his boss and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Sujana Chowdary was conspicuous by his absence at the dinner meeting held by Naidu at New Delhi on Thursday before the latter left for London.

He did not even accompany the Chief Minister to the meetings with senior Union Ministers Arun Jaitely and Rajnath Singh.

Though Sujana sought to defend his absence stating that he was not keeping well, Naidu apparently got the hint that the Union minister was clearly avoiding him.

It may be mentioned that Sujana’s Rajya Sabha term will be coming to an end this month and it is unlikely that Naidu might renominate him for the Upper House.

So, Sujana is all set to lose his cabinet berth. Indications are that Naidu might recommend the name of Muralimohan for replacing Sujana in the Central cabinet.

Moreover, Sujana is in neck-deep troubles due to money laundering cases and it might turn negative for the TDP back home. That is the reason why Sujana is avoiding Naidu.

Sources said Sujana is contemplating joining the BJP to wriggle out of the cases against him. Since he is a cash-rich party, the BJP might entertain him and use his services in strengthening the party in Andhra Pradesh, sources said.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao does not seem to be content with the decimation of the Telugu Desam Party in the region by admitting 12 of its MLAs into his party.

If sources in the party are to be believed, KCR is aiming at increasing his tally of MLAs to 100 out of the 119-members in the State Assembly.

With the official allotment of 12 TDP MLAs, the effective strength of the TRS has gone up to 78. It had won 63 seats in 2014 Assembly elections.

With the winning of Narayankhed by-elections, the strength has gone up to 64. Already, two Bahujan Samaj Party MLAs – A Indrakaran Reddy and Koneru Konappa – had merged with the TRS, taking its strength to 66. And with the 12 TDP members joining, the official strength has gone up to 78.

The TRS has already admitted four Congress MLAs – K Yadaiah, K Kanakaiah, Redya Naik and Vithal Reddy, besides two YSR Congress party MLAs – T Venkateshwarlu and Madan Lal. However, officially, they are yet to be declared as TRS members. But taking them into consideration, the effective strength of the TRS in the Assembly is 84.

Source said KCR is planning to increase this figure to 100, which means the TRS requires the support of another 16 MLAs.

There is going to be by-election to Sujathanagar Assembly constituency in Khammam district, which has fallen vacant due to the death of veteran Congress MLA Ramreddy Venkat Reddy.

Though the Opposition members on Friday demanded that the seat be left to the deceased MLA’s family member to get unopposed, KCR might not agree for the same. Otherwise, he may ask the family member to join the TRS and get elected unanimously.

Still he requires another 15 MLAs. While two more TDP legislators – R Krishnaiah and S Venkata Veeraiah might be trapped sooner or later, the TRS chief might target the Congress party to lure more MLAs into his kitty so as to fulfil his target in the next one year, sources said.

Chandrababu can forget his dream of ruling Telangana state along with AP as KCR is going to have the last laugh this time. As many as 12 legislators from T-TDP were attracted towards pink party already and only three leaders Revanth Reddy, R Krishnaiah and Sandra Venkata Veeraiah are left behind.

Each party has its own Legislature party office for MLAs in Assembly premises and KCR is now on his way to get TDLP office removed. Any party to have its own legislature party office, should be having at least 5 MLAs from it.

Ruling party TRS, Congress, Majlis and BJP are having required number of MLAs to have a LP office, while YSRC (3), CPI(1) and CPM(1) are not.

So now T TDP MLAs count has come down to 3 from 15, the discussion came to light about the need and existence for TDLP office in Assembly area. It is heard that TRS Leaders will be soon complaining to speaker asking him to revoke TDLP office from them. If at all that happens, this is the TRS Boss’s finishing smack at TDP in Telangana.
