Nitya Mehra, the director of “Baar Baar Dekho”, has denied reports that all is not well between its leading lady Katrina Kaif and film’s choreographer Bosco. The romantic film also stars Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role. There were reports that Katrina made several demands during the dance rehearsals. Mehra, who is making her directorial debut with the movie, said the team is having a great time shooting.

“I wonder where such stories originate. It’s absolute rubbish. We have been having a blast working with Bosco, Siddharth and Katrina,” she said.“I have known Katrina for years. Whenever we work it’s only love and respect we have for each other. So news like this is disturbing. Our rehearsals are underway and going great,” Bosco said. The film, produced by Farhan Akhtar, is scheduled to release next year.

Liquor Ban in Bihar: Nitish Kumar

0

m_id_391251_nitish_kumar

When the first phase of the Bihar assembly polls made it clear that women had outvoted men, political pundits looked into the reasons for it. As the trend continued till the fifth and final phase, one common conclusion was the awareness among women that there was a safe atmosphere for voting post EVM days and more importantly, post the days of booth-capturing in the 1990s when women preferred to stay at home and let hoodlums proxy-vote for them. Another reason was Nitish Kumar being able to create a constituency – a caste neutral one – among women in an otherwise casteist Bihar. Bicycle scheme for girls, 50 per cent reservation for women in panchayats, a gender budget and several women-centric moves have earned Nitish Kumar instant popularity.

When Nitish Kumar started to campaign for the 2015 assembly polls, rural women had a common complaint: the availability of liquor shops in villages and their menfolk spending much of their earnings on liquor and thereafter creating problems at home. Nitish listened to the growing chorus against his liberal liquor policy; as CM he also knew that liquor earned the state exchequer approximately Rs 3,500-4,000 cr annually, it was the highest earner for the cash-starved state. Nitish had to take a call which was much driven as much by political considerations as social considerations. Nitish made a poll promise in July that if voted back to power, he would ban liquor in the state.

Now that Nitish is back in the saddle, he had to do it or else he would have faced BJP criticism. Though there is no clarity so far on whether Nitish is looking at a partial or complete liquor ban, the CM has lived up to his promise. Now the CM will have to find ways to deal with apprehensions of illegal manufacturing of liquor and its illegal sale from adjoining states into Bihar.

Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao belongs to Telangana State

0

It is interesting to note that film actor Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao has her roots in Wanaparthy of Mahbubnagar district of Telangana. She is the granddaughter of J. Rameshwar Rao, Raja of Wanaparthy on her mother’s side. Her paternal grandfather happens to be Akbar Hydari, who was the Prime Minister of erstwhile Nizam’s state of Hyderabad. Interestingly, Kiran Rao is the maternal first cousin of Hindi actress Aditi Rao Hydari.

Kiran Rao married Aamir Khan in December 2005. In 2002, Aamir Khan had divorced his first wife Reena Dutta. Aamir and Kiran had met on the sets of the movie ‘Lagaan’, where Kiran was one of the film’s assistant directors. Kiran was raised in Kolkata, where she attended Loreto House. She then moved to Mumbai where she graduated with an economics major from the Sophia College for Women (Mumbai) in 1995. Kiran then shifted to Delhi and completed her Masters at AJK Mass Communication Research Center at Jamia Millia Islamia. Kiran and Aamir live in Bandra, Mumbai with their son, Azad Rao Khan.

Not a healthy scenario

Moody, angry and often aloof nurses at the top two State-run tertiary hospitals in Telangana, Gandhi and Osmania General Hospitals (OGH) is very common. There are numerous occasions when patients recovering in in-patient wings or intensive care units wait for hours for the nurses to show up. While the wait continues, the nurses do not show up. Blaming nurses for lack of ‘humane’ treatment is natural. However, the fact also remains that there is a serious health care delivery crisis in the top two tertiary hospitals, which have a combined strength of close to 3,000 beds. And it all boils down to shortage of nurses. The nursing staff shortage has all but crippled inpatient wards, intensive care units, dialysis units, outpatient facilities, vital cardiology, kidney and orthopaedic units and recovery wards in the two hospitals.

It (shortage) has also put immense pressure on the existing nurses, virtually draining out enthusiasm, motivation or passion towards their work. “Before blaming nurses for lack of humane treatment, one must understand the kind of pressure under which they function at OGH and Gandhi. It’s a shame that each nurse at both these hospitals has to work twice or thrice the normal duty time. The last time anybody bothered to recruit a nurse in Telangana and AP was way back in 2007,” says secretary, All India Nurses Federation, K. Sujavathi. Typically, OGH and Gandhi hospitals work in three shifts (morning, midday and night) and for each shift, both require close to 300 nurses, which accounts to 900 nurses for each hospital. However, OGH has a total of just 300 nurses, which means for one shift in a day, there will be only 100 available nurses to look after over 2,000 patients (outpatient and inpatient included). At Gandhi Hosptial, there are 200 nurses employed on permanent basis while 200 more are on contract basis.

This translates to 400 nurses instead of the required 900. “The situation is even bad if you look at the district hospital in King Koti or the three area hospitals in Vanasthalipuram, Golconda and Nampally. Depending on the patient inflow, each of the three area hospitals require between 40 and 50 nurses. However, at present each hospital has 20 nurses or less than that,” says Mariya from Telangana Government Nurses Association. It’s not like the State government does know the ground realities. Past proposals to recruit nurses on contract or permanent basis have not taken off.“There is no Nursing Council of Nursing Directorate on the lines of Medical Council to govern nurses in Telangana State. There is no interest on the part of the State government to recruit nurses from Telangana even after formation of a separate State,” is a very common refrain among them.

India win Nagpur Test by 124 runs, clinch series

Ravichandran Ashwin displayed his magic yet again to record a career-best figures of 7/66 as India clinched the four-match series against South Africa by taking an unassailable 2-0 lead with an emphatic 124-run win in the third cricket Test. Spinning a web of deceit, Ashwin had a superb match haul of 12 for 98, while leg spinner Amit Mishra claimed 3 for 51 as the hosts shot out the visitors for 185 in 89.5 overs in the second innings to wrap up the match 52 minutes after the tea session. This was also Virat Kohli’s first Test series win as a captain on home soil and also marked an end to South Africa’s track record of not losing a Test series away from home for nine long years. South Africa needed to score 310 to score for a series— levelling win but woefully fell short of the target, unable to negotiate the Indian spin threat led by 29-year-old Ashwin who completed his 4th 10—wicket haul in a match in his 31st Test.

Ashwin’s second innings victims included three left— handers — the opening duo of Dean Elgar, Stiaan van Zyl and Jean—Paul Duminy — apart from the prize wicket of AB de Villiers, the visitors’ most successful batsman on this visit. He fittingly took the last wicket, by clean bowling last man Morne Morkel through the gate in his final devastating spell of 4 for 16 in 19 balls. However, it was Mishra, who got the important breakthrough in the second session to break the stubborn 72— run fifth wicket stand between rival captain Hashim Amla (39) and Faf du Plessis (39), the visitors’ highest of the match after their capitulation for their lowest—ever total against India of 79 in the first innings. Mishra got rid of Amla to end the partnership and also packed off du Plessis soon afterwards before Ashwin polished off the tail with the second new ball in a devastating spell. With India winning at Mohali and Nagpur and the game in Bengaluru being washed out, the teams will play the inconsequential final Test at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla from December 3

No Ban on ‘Bajirao Mastani’ !

Mumbai: A Pune court on Thursday dismissed a suit seeking a ban on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film “Bajirao Mastani” for allegedly distorting history relating to late king Shrimant Bajirao Peshwe and his family members. The court opined that the plaintiff could approach the Central Board of Film Certification, commonly known as Censor Board, with his grievances about the release of the film. “The film cannot be released without the authority of the Censor Board. The plaintiff can approach the concerned authority if he has any grievances about the release of the picture. Hence, the (civil) suit is not maintainable under section 91 of CrPc. The plea is rejected,” said S S Gulhane, Chief Judge, Senior Division, Pune, in his order. “Under section 91 of C.Pc, a suit is maintainable if it is a case of nuisance or other wrongful act likely to affect public life.

Production of a film cannot be termed as public nuisance. The act merely of affecting sentiments of a particular class do not amount to public nuisance. Hence, the suit is dismissed,” the judge noted. The suit, filed by Hemant Patil, president of NGO Bharat Against Corruption, alleged that historical facts had been wrongly portrayed in the film while showing late king Bajirao Peshwe and his wives Kashibai and Mastani. The “Pinga” song in the film shows leading heroines Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone dancing together, which, the plaintiff said “distorts” history. ‘Pinga’ dance is an integral part of Marathi culture and has been portrayed as an ‘item song’ in the film, advocate Wajid Khan argued on behalf of the plaintiff.

Earlier, Prasadrao Peshwe, the descendant of Bajirao Peshwa I, had also alleged that historical facts have been “altered” while portraying the late king and his wives in the film. In a letter written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Prasadrao demanded that the government look into the matter, review the soon-to-be-released film, investigate the matter and take a decision accordingly. The film is set for release on December 18.

She also shares a weird experience when she called a interviewer asshole once and wondered aloud if she was allowed to say it’.

She says being feminist is about standing up for herself, fighting for the right and believes it is okay to be nasty for the right reasons and suggests the same to Sonaholics (Sonam Fans) too. A day after she spoke all this, the lady of fusion is on the path of divinity. She shared pictures of her and her family visiting Varanasi on occasion of Karthika-Pournami or Dev Deepawali as they call it in the north. She also shared the news that she and  her sister are going to launch a new clothing line ‘Rheson’

Just before Diwali she said  Maharashtra banning Pakisthani actors movies was ‘hypocrisy and more like British’s divide and rule policy to not let neighboring county actors work here. Intolerance of any kind is unacceptable, in a country known for tolerance. For an artiste it’s the scariest situation to be in. We grow through art, expression and love, if that very factor is curtailed we cannot grow as a country’.
