Film makers always try to release their films to coincide with Holiday weekend so that they derieve extra help from the holidays. The same is the case with Independence day weekend currently underway. Srimanthudu which released last week lost its steam over the past 2-3 days. But the holiday weekend is helping it very well and is registering sensational numbers.
Ravi Teja’s Kick-2 however missed the big chance as it is releasing the next week. It is said that Kalyan Ram wanted to release it this week but Ravi Teja forced postponement due to his unnecessary sentiments. It is said that the actor earlier had two release for Indepence day – Baladoor and Devudu Chesina Manushulu.
Both of them failed miserably at the box office. Ravi Teja do not want the sentiment to repeat and so got the movie postponed. Thus a big oppurtunity is missed. The movie is now releasing on August 21st with out any holiday support and with the expectations and hype almost zero. We will have to see how it ends up!

The whole of India is trending this #SaluteSelfie where some biggest politicians, film stars and sports persons are busy striking a salute and uploading that selfie on twitter or facebook. Of course, patriotism is something that is not limited to one particular day but these days the irony is that many needs inspiration from celebs to take part in stuff.

Needless to say, the Salute Selfie posted by Superstar Mahesh and Young Tiger NTR are speaking volumes now. Because these celebs never come into public life even on social circuits and won’t promote even their own films excepting saying thanks to audiences.

But this time, both Mahesh and NTR have decided to inspire youths with their salute selfies, and their pictures became discussion everywhere now. More than the Independence Day wishes, they have filled that true spirit of nation and enjoying the fruits of freedom.

Not stopping with these selfies, hope Mahesh and NTR like stars will come up with films like Chak De India and Lagaan, promoting patriotism and thereby pushing youths more towards the feeling of unity in diversity. To conclude, big Telugu stars have made it bigger.

Success Meaning: From 100 Days To 100 Crores

0

sriman11

A film was considered ‘hit’ if it ran over 100 days, until few years ago. Nevertheless, meaning of ‘success’ has been changed today with producers motive of earning more money before the film disappears from theaters. 100 crores is new phrase being heard frequently in film circles off late.

Usually, openings will be high for a star hero film. So, producers are releasing films in as many screens as possible to cash on particular hero’s craze. Hence, it has become tough task for any movie to run over 100 days. Certainly, we should not blame producers because piracy has also become a big worrying factor for them. Pirated prints of all new films are getting available on internet within 2 to 3 days after its actual release in theaters. Thus, only option for producers is locking number of screens, rather aiming 100 days run.

Baahubali and Srimanthudu are fanciful pictures among recent outings. While Baahubali grossed over 500 crore, Srimanthudu reached 100 crore mark within week days. Few Bollywood production houses are venturing to Tollywood, estimating market range of Telugu cinema today.

But, this new strategy of 100 crore is good only for star hero films. Because of this new development small cinema is hardly getting theaters.

Baahubali Beats PK, Becomes No 1 in India

bahubali

SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali continues to shatter the Box Office records. If latest reports are anything to go by, it has beaten Aamir Khan’s PK and Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and stood at No. 1 position in terms of Box Office collections. Although PK collected more than Baahuabli in its worldwide run, Baahubali has collected more than PK in its run in India thus making Baahubali the highest Grossing Film in India.

However, Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Baahubali are still running in theatres. Hence, it’d be not fair to jump at conclusions. But at the moment, Baahubali has beaten PK and Bajrangi Bhaijaan and stood at the pinnacle, the highest grossing film in India’s history.

* Baahubali: The Beginning said to have collected a gross of Rs 5.0 billion in India and Rs 0.7 billion in Overseas.

* Aamir’s PK raked in Rs 4.4 billion in India and Rs 3 billion in Overseas.

* Bajrangi Bhaijaan collected Rs 4.2 billion in India and Rs 1.7 billion in Overseas.

Why India got Independence at midnight

indi

“At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.” These were the famous words spoken by the then Congress leader and freedom fighter Jawaharlal Nehru in his ‘Tryst With Destiny’ speech addressing the Indian Parliament on the eve of Indian Independence, towards midnight on 15th August, 1947.

Many may wonder why after several years of freedom struggle, India was given Independence at midnight and why not during the day on 14th or 15th. Here’s an interesting story behind it. After the British officially announced that India will be given total Independence, several senior freedom fighters and national leaders who firmly believe in religious beliefs and astrology, found out that 15th August, which falls on a Friday and the day also being a Chaturdasi and Amavasya entering from 7:30 PM, was considered inauspicious for the big day.

When the leaders found out that 14th and 17th were auspicious, they wanted to carry out the proceedings on the 14th, but realized that the Lord Mountbatten, the Last Viceroy of India, will be in Karachi, Pakistan for the transfer of power on the Pakistan’s Independence Day and will only leave for India at midnight. Apart from this, the British Government had already announced in the Parliament that India will be Independence on the 15th.

In such a crisis situation, eminent historian and Malayali scholar who had immense knowledge of Indian customs and beliefs and astrology, KM Panicker, came to the rescue of the national leaders. According to Panicker’s solution, the Constitutional Assembly will begin on the 14th night at 11 pm and right at the stroke of midnight hour at 12 am on 15th, India will get is Independence from the British at an auspicious time.

On the 14th night, soon after Babu Rajendraprasad, the President of the House, finished his speech at 12 am, Jawaharlal Nehru formally announced the transfer of powers from the British to India and the resolution was introduced by the President of the House and was passed by the members of the Constitutional Assembly. Sucheta Kriplani rendered the first few lines of the National Song Saare Jahan Se Achcha and the National Anthem Jana Gana Mana.

Kanche Teaser: Out Of World Treat

0

kanche

Not even patriotic films are set in true war backdrop when it comes to Telugu movies. We haven’t seen films like Soldier, Savin Private Ryan and other war films made by Telugu directors for Telugu screen. Upholding the pride of the tribe on the eve of India’s 69th Independence Day, both Krish and Varun Tej have given a true fantastic treat.

That is 1944. A soldier Veerababu starts writing a letter to Seetha garu from his bunker in a war-torn place during the II World War. He says, war is also love and there is no love without war. That sets everything in motion, as Varun Tej as a responsible soldier starts to rock, while director Krish brings this never before treat to Tollywood through “Kanche”.

Set for a worldwide release on October 2nd, “Kanche” is a period film, an experiment any other commercial hero would have not dared at early stage in his career, Krisha has projected Varun Tej in a new way altogether. It’s just an out of the world treat.
