Brahmi’s comedy seeds in ‘Seetamma Vakitlo’

Much awaited multi-starrer film ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ was released on Friday and raining cats and dogs at box office. The director and producer decided to remove few scenes on Brahmanandam and Brahmaji in the film due to the issue of length or for some other reason. But as per the suggestions of few critics and analysts, as more comedy will help the success of the film, they are going to paste back the scenes of Brahmanandam comedy to the film reels.

It is understood that from 14th of this month few new scenes are going to be added. So from the festival day onwards, those scenes can be seen on screens. On the other side, the role of Brahmanandam as ‘Jilebi’ in the film ‘Nayak’ is tickling the audience state wide. Anyhow Brahmi is always a strength and stamina for big films in Telugu.

Karthi flop show even before release

Surya’s brother and Tamil action hero Karthi is facing a tough luck. He faced a dud with the film ‘Shakuni’ last year and his latest film ‘Alex Pandian’ was released yesterday in Tamil nadu, on which he has lot of expectations to start a successful journey in this New Year, but as per the Tamil media hassle, it is evident that Alex Pandian also gone a big flop at box office. The sad thing is producer Gnanvel raja earlier planned to release the film on the same date in both Tamil and Telugu with the title ‘Bad boy’. But due to the powerful Sankranthi race in Tollywood with the films like ‘Nayak’ and ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’, there was no theater left free to screen ‘Bad boy’. Hence producer decided to release this film later in Telugu. But due to the flop talk in Tamil, producer is rethinking about its release in Telugu now.

Karthi has become the first person to flop his film even before its release in Telugu. Bad luck to bad boy.

Paritala Sriram branded Rowdy Sheeter

Son of Late Paritala Ravi and Raptadu MLA Paritala Sunita, Paritala Sriram is going to be charged with Rowdy Sheet. Dharmavaram police has announced that they are going to open a rowdy sheet on Sriram. It was news that police were searching for Sriram, who was alleged with murder accusations on Congress leader of Dharmavaram Kamireddy pally Sudhakar reddy. He got an anticipatory bail from district court and submitted to CI Narsingappa for not to be arrested.

While everything went silent, responding on this case on Saturday, DSP Nawaz khan mentioned that they are going to open rowdy sheet on 15 members including Paritala Sriram as part of this case. He admitted that, in the Sudhakar reddy’s attemptive murder case, they are going to investigate the Kadiri assembly member too. But the future of Sriram will be in stake, if a rowdy sheet is opened on him as the police are planning.

Son in law of Late Y.S.Rajasekhar reddy, brother-in-law of Y.S.Jagan, brother Anil got the summons from Khammam second additional junior civil court. It is known already that Khamman rural police have filed a complaint against Brother Anil on the accusation that he is manupulating the voters with his religious preaching. In this case, judge A.SunithaRani issued summons to Anil for him to attend the court on 14th February. This is not the first time that court issued the summons to Anil, earlier he was unavailable in the address to which the orders were sent by the court. So the court issued again and police took the responsibility of handling them over to Anil.
At the time of 2009 elections, Anil Kumar attended a prayer in a church in Kanigiri a rural mandalam in Khammam. There was news that created lot of hassle that while doing prayers in church, Anil distributed money to manipulate the voters, who came to offer their prayers. Based on these accusations, Khammam police have filed the sumoto case on Anil and other three. Except Anil, other three have been appearing in front of court regularly.

A leading Hollywood actor went to a small town, and walked  into a small hotel there to have his lunch. There he found to his pleasant surprise that the bearer was a popular ex-actor.  After pleasantries the current actor asked the ex-actor what he would recommend.  The ex-actor was very indignant, and said scornfully : SIR, NO DOUBT I WORK HERE, BUT, THANK GOD, I NEVER EAT HERE!

Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi was in London recently, and he confessed that it was to get medical treatment there.  Owaisi family runs a beautiful Super Speciality Hospital, and the claim is that they run it to serve the poor.  There was a clamor recently that the famous Mahaveer Hospital run by the Jain community should be handed over to the Owaisis throwing out the Jains who have been running it successfully for the past several years.  The Owaisis want to serve the “Muslim” poor in the Mahaveer Hospital area.  It is believed that one compelling  reason for the rift between MIM and Congress was the reluctance of Kiran Kumar Reddy, the Chief Minister, to throw out the Jains simply to allow Owaisi family to expand their clout, and this led to the severance of ties.  There is in Logic a concept : Post Hoc, Ergo Propter Hoc   (after this, therefore, due to this ) which is considered as a fallacy.  We see before us that there were several Police cases pending for several years against Owaisi : a warrant was issued for his arrest by one of the courts which was never executed (We recall that a non-bailable warrant was issued some years back against the Shahi Imam Bukhari of Delhi;  as everybody knows,  the Court dared tissue the warrant, but the Police got cold feet : something like Man Proposes, But God Disposes), after the breakup of the alliance, Owaisi is in hot waters. But whatever it is, the Owaisi Super Speciality Hospital is not fit enough to treat Akbaruddin;  it is only for the POOR people.

Coming back to the Political greats, it is common knowledge that they never trust the local doctors or hospitals.  VP Singh the ex-PM got himself treated in UK for his dialysis etc.  Sonia Gandhi makes a bee line to USA for treatment of her ailments – we do not even know what those are. (Compare this with what the SEC in USA did when Steve Jobs, the APPLE COMPUTER head was ill and details were not furnished.  The SEC ordained that full disclosure should be made in the interests of the shareholders of Apple Company)  Zail Singh, our own NTR also set the precedent.  Vajpayee trusted the facilities in India, but then imported the Doctor from USA to treat him.  It is ironic that while people from abroad are flocking to Indian Hospitals hailing India as the Medical Tourism Mecca, our politicians are creating the Reverse Patient Drain.  To his credit however the TRS leader Jayashankar stuck to his Warangal Hospital till the last breath.  In contrast, KCR was mortally afraid of attention even in Khammam Hospital and desperately managed to get himself shifted to Hyderabad.  They claim that it is politics,  We have to wait and watch whether , if and when, God Forbid, the KCR family requires hospitalization, they would trust their Telengana Doctors and Hospitals or whether they would promptly take a flight overseas.  While our people are promptly running abroad when sick, the fact remains that several of the leading Specialists in all fields of medicine in foreign Hospitals are Indian only. This confirms the old adage : Perati Chettu Manduku Paniki Raddu ( The medicinal plant in our own backyard is not fit to cure us)

Apavitram in Pavitra

Shreya is going to set the screens and news aflame again through her forthcoming movie ‘Pavitra’. Shreya is doing the title role in this film under the direction of Janardhan Maharshi. It is reported that, not only she posed topless in this lady oriented movie but she acted so passionately in this movie. In contrary to the title, Sherya gave enough skin show in this movie. Being one of the most seductive heroines, she showed much oomph in the movie as per the demands of the story.
Coming to the story part of the movie, Pavitra is a character who loses her life due to some politicians and how she takes the revenge on them by entering politics and occupies the highest position. Even she appeared in the role of Pavitra in every press meet proving that she is going to be very beautiful in the movie. But when inquired about the same, producer and director of the film saying that it is a very decent movie, even the tagline complements the same as ‘Bold and Golden movie’.
Shreya recently objurgated the rumors that she is not playing the role of a prostitute in this film. Let’s see whether pavitra is going to be really pavitra or apavitra after the release.

Professor harassment on student

Osmania hospital turned as the stage for junior doctor’s agitation, boycotting their services in protest to the misbehavior of a profession with his lady junior doctor. They demanded the professor for his resignation. The complaint goes like this, Professor G.V.Prakash has been sexually harassing PG medical girl student. Unable to tolerate this, she complained to superintendent six months back but in vain which results in uncontrolled behavior of the professor.
 
This made the junior doctors angry, who took the professor to the superintendent’s chamber and gave him black and blue in front of the superintendent and demanded for his transfer. In this context, hospital superintendent Ramdas conceded to media that the junior doctors have filed a written complaint on professor G.V.Prakash for his misbehavior with a girl student. But in contrary to the allegations on him, professor explained that he hadn’t molested anyone, they are doing this against him just because of being strict to them. But it is heard that the respective professor has been transferred to Anantapur.

From past few months there have been speculations on the entry of Akhil Akkineni into films. The news seems to be taking into a shape now. All the ground work for his filmy launch has been secretly going on. Recently there a trail shoot was done on Akhil in the Annapurna studios and it is heard that son of an ace director directed this trail shoot. A girl from Mega family acted as heroine in this shoot. If everything goes straight, Akhil can be seen on the screen this year itself, that too in the month of December which is an auspicious month to his dad Nagarjuna.
Nagarjuna continued the romance and legacy of Akkineni on screen after Nageshwar rao and Nag Chaitanya is not so successful in continuing the legacy but Akhil got all qualifications for being the young Manmadhudu.

India in Oscar race again

2009 was the year where India actually stood on Oscar road due to a Mozart of Madras A.R.Rahman. There is another possibility this year for an Oscar by another citizen of Chennai, Bombay Jayashree. The busiest South Indian singer was nominated to Oscars for her lullaby in the film ‘Life of Pie’ under the direction of Ang Lee which was the biggest block buster last year.
 
The song was written, composed and sung by Jayashree and the mellifluous title track has become a sort of signature tune of the movie, in which the mother puts her child to sleep while describing how precious and beautiful he is. This song is nominated along with five other nominations for best original song. So there is a chance of 20 percentage to win the Academy award this time.
 
She was trained in both Carnatic and Hundustani streams from a very young age. She sung many notable songs for A.R.Rahman, Ilayaraja, Harris Jayaraj and Yuvan Shankar Raja for many South Indian films which were block busters.

Samantha bumper offer

Nagarjuna as the hero of ‘Charminar’

There is film called ‘Charminar’ being made in Kannada. Now it is heard that ‘Charminar’ is going to be remade into Telugu. As per the kannada film news, Nagarjuna is going to do the lead in this remake movie. Kannada star director Chandru is going to produce and direct this film even in Telugu. A leading producer from Tollywood, after watching the earlier films of Chandru asked him to remake this film into Telugu.
 
Revealing this to media, director Chandru said, “It is the idea of that producer, to remake this film into Telugu with king Nagarjuna as hero. He asked me to direct the Telugu version too. I am actually thinking about this. Will see”. But Chandru didn’t revealed the name of the producer who met him on this regard. Point to note here is, the movie runs in the context of the pride of Hyderbad Charminar

Case against another TD MLA: Rowdy sheet on Paritala Sriram

The case of conspiracy to murder Congress leader Sudhakar Reddy took a new turn when police revealed that they suspect the involvement of the Kadiri TDP MLA Venkata Prasad.

Dharmavaram DSP Navab Jan said that they now learnt that Venkata Prasad gave shelter to Nagoor Hussain wanted accused in the conspiracy. He also said rowdy-sheets would be opened against Paritala Sriram, son of the TDP MLA Sunita and others involved in the case. He said so far six of the accused were arrested. Police had recovered 3 hunting sickles, a gun and ammunition from the accused, he added.

Police take TDP MLA Suman Rathod into custody

Police have taken the TDP MLA Suman Rathod who was arrested in connection with a land scam and sent to the Chanchalguda jail on remand, for questioning.

The MLA who surrendered in the Kukatpalli court after her bail petition was rejected was remanded for 14 days of judicial custody. The court has also permitted the police to have her custody for questioning. As per the court’s permission, police have taken her into custody on Saturday. KPHB police would question her till 5 pm.

Police take Akbar into custody

Police have taken the MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi into their custody, following court’s permission to question him.

Police have called doctors of the RIMS hospital to the jail for a health check up. Akbar was later shifted to the police headquarters for questioning.

The court directed the police not to use third degree methods and also not to handcuff him. The court also permitted lawyers of the MIM MLA to be present during the questioning. By evening police would return Akbar to the jail and resume questioning on Sunday morning. The same procedure would be followed every day during the police custody. On January 17, he would be produced before the court.

Khammam second additional junior civil judge issued summons to the Christian preacher Bro. Anil Kumar, son-in-law of the late Chief Minister Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

Judge Sunita Rani issued the summons to Anil Kumar to appear before the court on February 14, in connection with the police case that he had sought votes in the name of religion. Khammam rural police registered the case during the 2009 elections.

Anil Kumar attended a programme in a church in Karunagiri of Khammam rural mandal during 2009 elections. There were charges that he had appealed for votes for the Congress party in the name of religion. He was also alleged to have distributed money. Khammam rural police registered the case against Bro. Anil and 3 others.

Jagan director – Akbar actor?

Even as the entire nation went up in arms against the MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi for his hate speech and branded him as a traitor, neither the YSR Congress nor its mouth piece the Sakshi media is opening its mouth on the issue. In fact the Sakshi newspaper and TV channel have been putting out news in favour of Akbar and in a way to generate sympathy for him.

This is the reason why opponents of Jagan had alleged that it was as per the screenplay written by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy that Akbaruddin had acted.

Jagan’s party has so far neither condemned unequivocally nor spurned the charges leveled against him and his media. A hot debate is on about the stoic silence of the Jagan bandwagon on this issue.

TRS openly charged Jagan of being the director for the scene unfurled and enacted by Akbar. The party said that it was the plan of Jagan to whip up communal trouble in Hyderabad to scuttle the Telangana process. TRS also said the same strategy through which the then Chief Minister Marri Chenna Reddy was dislodged by creating communal trouble was now being implemented by Jagan and Akbar.

Even to this serious charge, there is no stout rejection from the YSRCP. It is learnt that all the party leaders were instructed not to talk about the issue. Just as a matter of fact, Mysoora Reddy responded and simply said Akbar did wrong. That was all the condemnation from the YSRCP. Party leaders Jitta Bala Krishna Reddy and KK Mahender Reddy who were earlier with the TRS and who constantly attack their former boss KCR also had not responded to this serious charge. There is also no response from Konda Surekha, Bajireddy Govardhan and others who regularly respond to all kinds of statements. Gone Prakasha Rao, the very vocal leader of the YSRCP also hasn’t said anything about it. It is being widely said that the silence was because it was a joint plan of the YSRCP and the MIM. Even the ranks of YSRCP are worried about the silence of the party on such a serious issue

Ileana happy for Tamanna’s Bollywood dreams

Top Tollywood female actor Tamanna is finally making her big entry in Bollywood. Her Kedi co-star Ileana D’Cruz has expressed her happiness for the success of her friend, whom she fondly refers to as Tammu.

Tamanna actually had made her Bollywood debut in 2005 in Chand Sa Roshan Chehra. Then she made her Telugu debut in Sri, where she played the lead role. In 2006, she came in Kedi and this is the movie where she met her friend Ileana, who was her co-star. Her Tamil film Kalloori and Telugu film Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam got her critical appraisal and her performance was appreciated.

Ileana D’Cruz herself has acted in various south movies and romanced with top south stars, made a dashing entry in Bollywood with Anurag Basu’s super hit Barfi! , where she was paired opposite Ranbir Kapoor. Ileana is being paired with Shahid Kapoor in an upcoming movie Phata Poster Nikalo.

Tamanna will be the lead female actor in the Bollywood remake of the Tollywood movie Maryada Ramanna, directed by SS Rajamouli. The Bollywood star working with her will be Ajay Devgan, as per the sources. A female actor praising another and wishing for success is definitely a good thing now!

Story: Peddodu(Venkatesh) and Chinnodu(mahesh) are brothers and they are in their job trails in cities. Prakash raj and Jayasudha look after their maternal daughter-in-law Seethamma(Anjali). chinnodu falls in love with Geetha(Samantha) when they meet in a relative’s marriage. The whole movie is about living life happily without harming others and being helpful to everyone we come across.
Performances: Venkatesh was good as usual, Mahesh babu is superb and grown up as an actor a lot. Anjali is very good and samantha is passable. Jayasudha was natural. Prakashraj is impressive as always. Rohini Hattangadi, Kota Srinivas rao, Rao Ramesh, Tanikella Bharani very good. The remaining supporting cast was good. Art work is fine. editing could have been better. Cinematography is top rated. Music was good. The screenplay is predictable at times and the narration is slow.
Analysis: Venkatesh was good, He was subtle in emotional scenes. Mahesh was brilliant, he delivered most of the subtle expressions with his eyes. His slang was good initially but later it appeared artificial. Anjali is the show stealer, her expressive eyes delivered every thing, she has a long run to go in Telugu industry. Samantha was okay and her smile looked very much artificial and plastic. Music by Mickey.J.Meyer was good. All the songs were suitable to the situations and are script oriented. Lyrics by Ananth sriram and Sitaram Sastry are good. Background score by Manisharma brought soul to the film. Cinematography by Guhan was good, he made the middle class house look rich and colorful. Editing was not crisp. Art was is fine. The screenplay was not exciting. The Direction is good in some scenes. The production values are good.
The director was not clear in certain aspects, in terms of characterizations — Venkatesh character could have been well established based on his straight forward nature. some establishment scenes after he loses his job could have helped in elevating his nature. Mahesh character was limited to commenting girls in Hyderabad and acting(biting his grandma and laughing) in the village and talking over phone with heroine all through..
The dialogues in the second half are good. It’s a mix of old fashioned ones and the contemporary(Ganesh patro and Srikanth Addala). The complete first half was good with the characters introduction and the narration was smooth. There was a lag in the second half even though there are some good emotionally touching scenes. Chinnodu telling to Peddodu on the terrace to take decision independently. Chinnodu giving warning to Rao Ramesh in the restaurant. The complete Bhadrachalam episode(even though the transformer scene was little dramatic) was handled well.
Anjali was fantastic and she literally lifted some scenes in the second half. Rohini Hattangadi was good. Prakash raj was subtle. Rao ramesh impresses with his characterization, the remaining supporting cast fitted to the roles well. Ravi babu’s character was introduced well and lacked importance later. The drawbacks of the film are — there is absolutely no story, scenes were not filled with required emotional depth. Audience may get bored with too many phone talking scenes between Mahesh babu and Samantha, Mahesh boarding train in Relangi station(too many times) and Venkatesh coming to give him sendoff, lack of entertainment or funny episodes which may provide relief to the common Audience, neither the director highlighted/ concentrated on core village traditions and customs, how they are drastically falling now in present generation.
Do not got to the movie with heavy expectations(expecting a multi-starrer), the story is simple(absolutely nothing). The scenes are realistic and very close to heart and one can get connected easily with the roles well. Lack of strong emotions and dragged slow narration make you stand at the same place where the story has started even after the movie ends up. It’s a simple realistic film done by big stars. Different and sensible movie likers may love the movie a lot. There are chances of clicking in the ‘A’ centers for it’s sensible narration, we have to wait for the B,C centers response. The family Audience response is also awaited.

Verdict: Feel good flick and it is not for all. Masses may not like it as it’s not a routine commercial pot boiler.

Telangana – to be or not to be?

Sources from New Delhi have reported that the decision on the Telangana issue will finally be decided before January 20. Once this is decided, the Centre will have to follow it through.The media, especially the news channels, have already started reporting about it and have started doing the countdown for the final decision.The president of Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr. Botsa Satyanarayana, has supposedly been summoned by the party leadership to New Delhi for the purpose of getting a feedback of the political situation.

Some ministers here met the chief minister to discuss the situation and the future plan of action. This group included T G Venkatesh, Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy and S Sailajanath. They intended to ensure that if there are any potential attempts for separation of Telangana then they should be able to block it.Primarily, CPI(M) and MIM are opposing the formation of Telangana while TDP, TRS, BJP and CPI are in favour of the separate state. The indecision on this issue was such that at the all-party meet chaired by home minister Sushilkumar Shinde, the eight parties belonging to Andhra Pradesh made unanimously demanded that the Central government take a final decision. The Chief Minister is expected to go to Delhi for this purpose in a couple of days.
