Narudi Brathuku Natana Movie Review

0

Narudi Brathuku Natana is a 2024 Telugu language emotional drama film written and directed by Rishikeshwar Yogi. The film has Shiva Kumar Ramachandravarapu & Nithin Prasanna playing the lead roles while Shruti Jayan, Aiswarya Anil Kumar, Viva Raghav, Dayanand Reddy, Krishna Prasad, Rishi Suresh & others are seen in important supporting roles. The music is composed by NYX Lopez while the film is produced by TG Vishwa Prasad, Sukumar Boreddy & Dr. Sindhu Reddy under People Media Factory, S Square Cinema & C For Apple Productions banners.

Story:

Sathya (Shiva Kumar Ramachandravarapu) is a self-centered aspiring actor who doesn’t really understand the art of acting yet believes he is destined for fame in the movies. After getting rejected in auditions and insulted by his father & best friend, he decides to come out of his home and live a life on his own. In this process, he travels to Kerala to understand emotions and life where he meets a stranger named D. Salman (Nithin Prasanna). How did D. Salman and the experiences Sathya faces in Kerala transform him as a person and as an actor? Forms the crux of the film.

What about on-screen performances?

Nithin Prasanna is the pick of the actors. He is very natural in the role of D. Salman and his comedy timing is appreciable in the film. All his fun scenes with Shiva Kumar in Kerala are a saving grace to this film.

Shiva Kumar Ramachandravarapu does a pretty decent job as the struggling actor, Sathya. He does well in all the fun portions but he is a bit off-colour in a few scenes where he performs as an actor. His expressions in these scenes could’ve been better.

Shruti Jayan is adorable as the Malayali girl who feeds Sathya and is impressive in her small yet sweet role. All her English dialogues are hilarious. Aiswarya Anil Kumar is neat as the lover of D.

Salman while Viva Raghav who plays the hero’s best friend and Dayanand Reddy as the hero’s father are fine in their parts. The rest of the supporting cast are adequate in their limited portions.

What about off-screen talents?

The story by Rishikeshwar Yogi is refreshing and had all the potential to be a good emotional drama but the way the scenes are written takes away the interest created by the core plot point of the film. The screenplay is very poor and is the biggest drawback of the film.

The film is about the journey of self-doubt which leads an aspiring actor to a crucial realization and makes him know the importance of empathy and compassion in becoming a successful actor. But this point isn’t conveyed properly through the scenes coz of the half-baked writing.

The scenes had the scope but the way they were written needed more shapeness and proper closures. There are many logicless scenes that fail to convey the emotions properly while a few scenes aren’t presented neatly on screen.

The whole football sequence and the scene where the hero tries to sell his mobile in the first half are good examples of this and the scene where the Malayali girl serves beef and the light goes off is another scene where the emotion isn’t conveyed properly.

Director Rishikeshwar Yogi does a pretty underwhelming job with his craft. Although he had a decent plot in hand, his execution falters big time and the film is technically not up to the mark.

He should’ve had a free-flowing screenplay to make this into an emotional tale but the scenes he had in the script looked very clumsy and half-baked. The songs by NYX Lopez are forgettable and fail to register with the viewers.

His background score is neat in a few scenes and is not up to mark in a few others. The camera work by Fahad Abdul Majeed is middling. There are frames where the focus isn’t proper and the lighting in the film is too dark in a few scenes.

The editing by Rishikeshwar Yogi is poor. The cuts are very lengthy and there is a lot of drag in a few scenes.

The production values by People Media Factory, S Square Cinema & C For Apple Productions are ordinary.

What’s Hot?

* Nithin Prasanna’s Performance
* Shiva Kumar’s Performance
* All Funny Scenes Between Nithin & Shiva
* Decent Second Half & Okayish Climax
* Ex-Marriage to Police Station Sequence In The Latter Half

What’s Not?

* Half Baked Writing & Poor Screenplay
* Clumsy & Not So Convincing Narrative
* Scenes Designing Lacks Clarity
* Weak Conversations
* Boring First Half
* Lacks Techincal Finesse

Verdict:

On the whole, Narudi Brathuku Natana is a half-baked drama that shows the emotional journey of an aspiring actor with too many half-baked scenes. It had the needed weight in the story and also had a few funny moments in the second half but the lack of good technical values and the weak scene closures with dull conversations are a major drawback of this film which more or less looks like a short film made for big screens!!

Pottel Movie Review

0

Pottel is a 2024 Telugu language action rural drama film written and directed by Sahit Mothkhuri. The film has Yuva Chandra Krishna & Ananya Nagalla playing the lead roles while Thanasvi Chowdary, Ajay, Noel, Priyanka Sharma, Srikanth Iyengar, Chatrapathi Sekhar, Jeevan, Ring Riyaz, Jaya Naidu & others are seen in important supporting roles. The music is composed by Shekar Chandra while the film is produced by Nishank Reddy Kudithi & Suresh Kumar Sadige under Nisa Entertainments, Pragnya Sannidhi Creations & Sahit Mothkhuri Writingss banners.

Story:

The film is set in Gurrangattu, a remote village in the Telangana region before the partition of Telugu states and before the government stopped the Patel system. Gangadhar (Yuva Chandra) is a devoted father and the caretaker of a sacred sheep which is used in the Village’s traditional rituals. Gangadhar has only one profound dream—to provide his daughter with a better future through education. But he has a hurdle in the form of the village chief, Patel (Ajay), who is determined to keep the underprivileged away from educational opportunities. Will Gangadhar be able to break through the barriers imposed by Patel and secure the education that could transform his daughter’s life? Needs to be seen in the film.

What about on-screen performances?

Ajay who plays the village head, Patel is undoubtedly the standout performer in the film. It is surely one of the best portrayals of a villain character in recent times in Telugu and Ajay does a fabulous job with his performance. He is terrific, especially in the scenes where he acts as Balamma in the lady get-up and is perfect with his look and dialogue delivery.

Yuva Chandra Krishna is honest as Gangadhar and does a good job with his debut film. His performance as a father who will do anything for his daughter’s education is very natural and believable.

Ananya Nagalla once again shines as a village belle and gives out a good performance as the wife of Gangadhar. Her act is something similar to what she has done in ‘Mallesam’ but she gets a much meatier role in this film. Her innocence adds well to her Bujjamma’s character.

Thanasvi Chowdary who played the little kid, Saraswati is superb with her act. She gives out the right kind of expressions required for the role and passes with flying colors.

Srikanth Iyengar in the role of a teacher and Noel as the heroine’s brother leave a mark in important supporting roles.

Priyanka Sharma, Chatrapathi Sekhar, Jeevan, Ring Riyaz, Jaya Naidu & others are fine in their limited parts.

What about off-screen talents?

The story by Sahit Mothkhuri is realistic and very rustic with rooted emotions of the Telangana culture. The way the whole Balamma track is connected with the education backdrop and the Pottel subplot is appreciable. The screenplay is pretty half-baked.

The characters are written well with a decent arc but the scenes needed more sharpness. In fact, many scenes in the movie have shock value but they do not give the same effect in the theater coz it lacks the finesse in the writing. Also, the basic logics go for a toss at many places in the narrative.

The film starts on a fine note. The whole first half introduces the village & its customs along with the characters in a neat way and also has a dull love track of the lead pair. The marriage scene where the hero goes to stop the marriage is one good example of bland writing. Also, the second half is dragged out unnecessarily with too many unwanted scenes.

The whole cycle chase and the hero getting beaten up by the villagers is one good example of the dragged-out sequences. The climax sequence is fine with a raw and rustic sequence which looks a bit over the top too. Director Sahit Mothkhuri does a neat job with his presentation but his narration could’ve been a lot better with more clarity in the proceedings.

The way he highlighted the societal issues in the villages, the caste differences, and showed how far a father can go for his daughter’s education is commendable. Having said that, a better screenplay and a crisper second half could’ve made this a more memorable film. The songs by Sekhar Chandra are decent.

They blend in with the narrative in a neat manner. The Nagiro song is the best track of the album while the Bujji Meka song though is good to hear, it affects the flow of the film with its inappropriate placement towards the end.

Sekhar Chandra’s background score is good too. The cinematography by Monish Bhupathi Raju is first-rate. His lighting is apt and his camera work gives the film a big scale.

The editing by Karthika Srinivas R is fine but could’ve been more crisper in a few scenes, especially in the second half.

The production values by Nisa Entertainments, Pragnya Sannidhi Creations & Sahit Mothkhuri Writingss are adequate.

What’s Hot?

* Ajay’s Performance
* Yuva Chandra & Ananya Nagalla’s Performances
* Authentic Presentation Of The Village Culture
* Balamma Portions Of Ajay Are Fresh On Screen
* Good Message Related To Education
* Decent Songs & Good Background Score
* Cinematography & Production Values

What’s Not?

* Half Baked Screenplay
* Few Logicless Scenes
* Weak Love Track In The First Half
* Unwanted Songs In The Second Half
* Stretched Out Climax Portions
* VFX/Graphics In The Animated Parts

Verdict:

Overall, Pottel is a sincere attempt with a few real-life incidents revolving around the village’s superstitions and how the weaker sections of the village are oppressed even in today’s times. It also gives out a good message on the importance of education and shows the resilience of a father in a nice manner. Worth watching in theatres!!

Nawazuddin Siddiqui joins Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Thamba’ as menacing villain

0

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has reportedly been roped in to play the antagonist in the upcoming vampire comedy ‘Thamba’.Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the movie also stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles.

According to reports, Siddiqui’s character in ‘Thamba’ is described as “eccentric yet violent,” originating from the ancient Vijayanagara Empire. A source close to the development was quoted as saying, “Nawazuddin’s antagonist has been imagined as an eccentric yet violent character who lived centuries ago. He travels to the present to seek revenge and control the destinies of the two lead characters.”

The forthcoming horror-comedy is anticipated to begin production in late November or early December.Siddiqui has previously played villains in movies such as ‘Badlapur’, ‘Munna Michael’, ‘Kick’, and ‘Petta’.

Yesterday, Nawazuddin was caught up in a controversy following the release of a recent advertisement in which he was seen dressed as a Maharashtra police officer, encouraging people to play poker on the app. The Hindu Janjagruti Samiti sent a letter to the Mumbai Police Commissioner and the Maharashtra Director General of Police, urging them to take action against Siddiqui and Ankur Singh, the owner of Big Cash Poker.

The letter demanded strict action against both Siddiqui and Singh under the Maharashtra Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules of 1979 and the Maharashtra Police Act of 1951.

The letter stated, “This is alarming because the same police department files cases against such people and arrests gamblers. The Hindu Janjagruti Samiti’s ‘Surajya Abhiyan’ strongly condemns this, as it tarnishes the image of the Maharashtra Police. Ignoring this could lead to more illegal and unethical advertisements using police uniforms.”

Talking about the film ‘Thamba’, the project marks Ayushmann Khurrana’s first collaboration with Rashmika. The film will be produced by Amar Kaushik. Confirming this last month, the ‘Stree 2’ director stated, “The vampire film is titled ‘Thamba’. We will begin shooting for it in the next two months.”
