0

Hyderabad, India – Nandamuri Tarakaratna, a talented actor from the renowned Nandamuri family, left an indelible mark on the Indian film industry despite his limited appearances. Born into a family of renowned actors, he managed to carve out his own identity and establish himself as a promising talent.

In 2001, Tarakaratna set a world record by simultaneously starting nine films. His debut film, Okato No. Kurradu, was released in 2002. However, his promising career was tragically cut short when he suffered a heart attack on January 27, 2023, while participating in a political rally. He passed away on February 18, 2023, at the age of 39, leaving behind a grieving family, including his wife Alekhya Reddy and their three children.

Recently, a traditional half-saree function was held for Tarakaratna’s eldest daughter, Nishka. Photos from the event, shared by Alekhya on social media, have gone viral, capturing the heartwarming moments between the mother and daughter. In one poignant photo, the entire family is seen standing together with Tarakaratna’s photo in the background, adding an emotional touch to the celebration and reminding fans of the late actor’s presence.

Tarakaratna’s legacy will continue to live on through his work and the memories he left behind. His untimely passing was a great loss to the Indian film industry, but his contributions to the world of cinema will always be remembered.

Pushpa 2: The Rule Gears Up for a Record-Breaking Opening in Karnataka

0

Bengaluru, India – A cinematic battle is brewing in the heart of Karnataka as the highly anticipated Pushpa 2: The Rule prepares for its grand release. The film, a sequel to the blockbuster hit Pushpa: The Rise, is poised to challenge the existing records set by KGF Chapter 2 and Kantara in the region.

The excitement among fans and distributors is palpable. With a grand release across 500 single screens—compared to KGF2’s 350—there is a strong belief that Pushpa 2 will make a significant impact. If KGF2 raked in approximately ₹30 crores on its opening day, distributors confidently predict that Pushpa 2 will exceed that mark.

Social media is buzzing with predictions and fervent discussions about the storyline and Allu Arjun’s return to the screen. The hype is not just about breaking records; it’s about creating a legacy in Indian cinema. With so much riding on this film, all eyes are on the box office as it gears up for what promises to be an explosive launch.

As we count down the days to the release of Pushpa 2: The Rule, the only question remains: will it set a new benchmark or will it simply be another blockbuster? One thing is for sure: if it does exceed ₹90 crores, we might just have to hire Allu Arjun to help us count all that cash! After all, who better to handle the numbers than the man who knows how to rule the screen?

Shaniera Akram Criticizes Kriti Sanon’s Song “Show Some Respect”

0

Hyderabad, India – A recent controversy has erupted in the South Asian entertainment industry as Pakistani actor and filmmaker Shaniera Akram publicly criticized Indian actress Kriti Sanon’s latest song, “Show Some Respect.” Akram’s comments have ignited a heated debate on social media, highlighting the cultural sensitivities surrounding artistic expression in the region.

Known for her outspoken views, Shaniera took to social media to express her disapproval of the song’s portrayal of women. She emphasized the importance of respect and dignity in artistic representations, particularly in an era where gender equality is a pressing issue. Her comments resonated with many who believe that media should uplift and empower rather than objectify.

The backlash against Sanon’s song has been mixed. While some fans support Akram’s call for respect, others argue that artistic freedom should not be stifled by cultural expectations. This clash reflects a broader conversation about the responsibilities of artists in representing societal values and norms. Supporters of Sanon argue that music is a form of self-expression and should not be overly scrutinized.

This incident underscores the delicate balance between artistic expression and cultural sensitivity in South Asia. As artists navigate these waters, they often face criticism from various factions within their audiences. The discourse initiated by Akram serves as a reminder of the power of art to provoke thought and discussion about important social issues. As the debate continues, it is evident that both artists and audiences play a crucial role in shaping the narrative around respect and representation in media.

Gram panchayats to get 5-day, hourly weather forecasts

0

New Delhi, Oct 23 (IANS) Aimed at empowering rural communities and enhancing disaster preparedness at the grassroots level, the government said on Wednesday that Gram panchayats will soon receive five-day daily weather forecasts and provision to check hourly weather forecasts.

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), in collaboration with the India Meteorological Department (IMD), and the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), is set to launch the “Weather Forecasts at the Gram Panchayat Level” system on Thursday in the national capital.

The initiative will directly benefit farmers and villagers across the country, strengthening grassroots governance and promoting sustainable agricultural practices — making rural populations more climate-resilient and better equipped to tackle environmental challenges.

According to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, this is the first time that localised weather forecasts will be available at the Gram Panchayat level, supported by the IMD’s expanded sensor coverage.

The forecasts will be disseminated through the Ministry’s digital platforms: e-GramSwaraj, which enables efficient governance, project tracking, and resource management; the Meri Panchayat app, which fosters community engagement by allowing citizens to interact with local representatives and report issues; and Gram Manchitra, a spatial planning tool that provides geospatial insights for development projects.

Gram Panchayats will receive daily updates on temperature, rainfall, wind speed, and cloud cover, empowering them to make critical decisions in agriculture, such as planning sowing, irrigation, and harvesting activities. According to the government, these tools will also strengthen disaster preparedness and infrastructure planning. Furthermore, SMS alerts will be sent to Panchayat representatives regarding extreme weather events like cyclones and heavy rainfall, ensuring immediate action to protect lives, crops, and property.

“This endeavour is a transformative step toward building climate-resilient communities at the grassroots level,” said the government.

Prolonged exposure to arsenic in drinking water may up heart disease risk

0

New Delhi, Oct 23 (IANS) Long-term exposure to arsenic in drinking water may increase the risk of cardiovascular disease even at exposure levels below the regulatory limit, according to a new study on Wednesday.

The study led by researchers at Columbia University in the US is the first to describe exposure-response relationships at concentrations below the current regulatory limit (10 micrograms per litre). It also substantiates that prolonged exposure to arsenic in water contributes to the development of ischemic heart disease.

For the study, published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, the team compared various time windows of exposure.

“Our findings further reinforces the importance of considering non-cancer outcomes, and specifically cardiovascular disease, which is the number one cause of death in the US and globally,” said Danielle Medgyesi, a doctoral student in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at Columbia Mailman School.

To evaluate the relationship between long-term arsenic exposure from community water supplies (CWS) and cardiovascular disease, the researchers analysed 98,250 participants, 6,119 ischemic heart disease cases, and 9,936 CVD cases.

The study found decade-long arsenic exposure up to the time of a cardiovascular disease event was associated with the greatest risk. The findings are consistent with a previous study in Chile finding peak mortality of acute myocardial infarction around a decade after a period of very high arsenic exposure.

The study found a substantial 20 per cent risk at arsenic exposures ranging from 5 to less than 10 micrograms per litre which affected about 3.2 per cent of participants. The results highlight the serious health consequences not only when community water systems do not meet the current standards but also at levels below them.

The study emphasised the need for implementing regulatory standards to protect health.

Prateik Babbar, Sayani Gupta to star in romantic comedy ‘Khwaabon Ka Jhamela’

0

Actors Prateik Babbar, Sayani Gupta and Kubbra Sait will be seen sharing screen space in the upcoming romantic comedy christened ‘Khwaabon Ka Jhamela’ directed by Danish Aslam.Prateik said, “There’s nothing tougher than making an audience laugh. It was fun to be down for that challenge with ‘Khwaabon Ka Jhamela’. I’ll be seen playing the role of a guy who’s great with numbers but terrible with intimacy.”

He added that the film is a “hilarious and heartfelt journey of self-discovery, that talks about the stuff most Indians prefer to be silent about—finance and intimacy.”

Shot in India and the UK, the film tells the story of Zubin, a man with a knack for numbers but not romance, who faces rejection when his fiancee, Shehnaz, turns down his proposal due to his bedroom blunders. Seeking solace, he meets Ruby, a spirited intimacy coordinator & they strike a quirky deal, leading to a hilarious journey of self-improvement & the possibility of love.

Sayani added: “‘Khwaboon Ka Jhamela’ has such a brilliant script—funny, sad, and really cool. Collaborating with Danish, Arpita, and Prateik again was fabulous, and playing an intimacy coach was something entirely new for me.”“It’s a subject that hasn’t really been explored in Indian cinema. Danish made the story relatable for all of us. Shooting in the freezing cold left us in a brain fog, but it was an experience I’ll never forget!”

Director Danish Aslam, who is known for his directorial ventures like “It’s Not That Simple”, “Flesh” and “Break Ke Baad”, said that the genre of rom-coms are back.“I’ve always been attracted towards dysfunctional and unconventional relationships – which is pretty much 90 percent of love today. But I think there’s a lack of Indian movies telling those stories, where love is just a swipe away. ‘Khwaabon Ka Jhamela’ dives headfirst into the hilarious and often awkward realities of modern relationships.”

“It’s a love letter to the young and restless, a generation navigating the beautiful mess that is romance in a world where the rules have changed. I’m a firm believer in the energy on set translating onto screen and this cast is as mad as they are talented.”The director said that working with Prateik, Sayani, and Kubbra was an absolute riot.“Even ChatGPT couldn’t come up with an appropriate enough metaphor!” he added.

Producer Harman Baweja, said that the film brings together an “incredibly talented team and a truly unique story”.“It’s a rom-com that’s not just about finding the one, but it also takes two seemingly unrelated topics—personal finances and intimacy—and weaves them into a narrative that’s entertaining and meaningful.”He shared that collaborating with an exceptional team has been super rewarding.”

Produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Pammi Baweja, Harman Baweja, and Vicky Bahri, and directed by Danish Aslam, “Khwaabon Ka Jhamela” will stream on JioCinema Premium on November 8.
