Salman Khan’s Sikander Under Tight Security Amidst Threats

0

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been under heightened security concerns following serious threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. These threats, stemming from demands by the Bishnoi community for an apology from Salman, have created a tense atmosphere around the actor. Despite these challenges, Salman has resumed work on his latest project, Sikander, directed by AR Murugadoss.

The film has generated significant buzz not only for its gripping storyline but also for casting Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead, marking her first collaboration with Salman. With Salman back on set, security measures around the production have been significantly ramped up. Salman, already known for his robust personal security, has reportedly invested in a new car equipped with advanced safety features. However, it’s not just Salman who is under the protection radar. The Sikander production team has taken extra precautions to safeguard all its star actors, including Rashmika Mandanna, given the heightened risks.

The decision to tighten security on set comes as a precautionary measure, especially with a high-profile cast including Sunil Shetty, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, and Sathyaraj. With Salman’s previous movie, Tiger 3, underperforming at the box office, Sikander carries a lot of expectations. The presence of so many big names, along with Rashmika’s debut opposite Salman, has created a lot of buzz around the film, which is set to release on March 31, 2025, just in time for Eid.

As the shooting for Sikander continues, fans are eager to see what this high-octane action film has in store. Rashmika Mandanna, who has earned a loyal fan base with her performances in films like Pushpa and Goodbye, is expected to deliver another stellar performance. While the threats to Salman have raised concerns, the team’s proactive approach to security ensures that the production stays on track for its highly anticipated release.

Iraqi militia claims five drone attacks on Israeli targets

0

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a Shiite militia group, on Wednesday claimed responsibility for five drone strikes on vital Israeli targets.
According to its statements, the group’s fighters launched two drone attacks on sites in the port city of Eilat in southern Israel, two other attacks on sites in the occupied Golan Heights in northern Israel, and one drone attack on a site in Israel, Xinhua news agency reported.

The group said the strikes were carried out “in solidarity with our people in Palestine and Lebanon,” pledging to continue targeting “the enemy’s strongholds at an escalating pace.”It did not provide further details about the targeted sites or report any casualties.

Since the outbreak of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has repeatedly attacked Israeli and US positions in the region to show support for Palestinians in Gaza. The militia has stepped up its attacks on Israel after the latter intensified strikes against Hezbollah across Lebanon on September 23.

Neighbouring countries won’t allow use of territory for attacks on Iran

Speaking at a press conference in Kuwait on Tuesday, Araghchi said, “We have received reassurances from our neighbouring countries that they will not permit the use of their territories or airspace for any possible attack on Iran.”

Araghchi’s visit comes amid growing concerns about possible military escalation in the region between Iran and Israel. The Iranian Foreign Minister reiterated that Iran is seeking a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza and southern Lebanon, and called for calm in the region, Xinhua news agency reported.

However, he also warned that any potential Israeli attack on Iran’s oil infrastructure or nuclear facilities would be met with “a similar response.”

Regarding the possibility of a full-scale war in the region, Araghchi said, “There is that possibility … the war could expand to encompass the entire region if energy installations in Iran are struck,” adding that “the countries of the region have the capability to prevent this full-scale war from happening.”

Araghchi stressed that any attack on nuclear facilities violates international laws and conventions.

He said that Iran is also “closely monitoring all movements in US bases in the region, both by sea and air”.

Regarding the conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon, Araghchi said, “The decision to cease fire rests with the Lebanese and Palestinians themselves, and we are here only to offer support and backing.”

Araghchi’s visit to Kuwait is part of ongoing consultations with regional countries amid what he described as “Israeli military escalation in Gaza and Lebanon.” Kuwait is the 11th stop of Araghchi’s regional tour focusing on preventing further escalation in the Middle East.

Mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual sensitivity key to future of India-China ties, PM Modi tells Xi Jinping

0

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday conveyed it to the Chinese President Xi Jinping that India-China ties have to be based on three mutuals – mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual sensitivity – if they have to return to a positive trajectory and remain sustainable.

“We welcome the consensus reached on issues that have arisen on the India-China border in the last four years. Maintaining peace and stability on the border should remain our top priority. Mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual sensitivity form the basis of our relations,” said PM Modi in a significant bilateral meeting with Xi Jinping – the first at the delegation level in nearly five years – in the Russian city of Kazan on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit.

As PM Modi emphasised that relations between India and China are important not only for people of the both countries, but also for global peace, stability and progress, the Chinese President also acknowledged that people in both countries, and even the international community, are keeping a close watch on the meeting.

“China and India are both ancient civilisations, major developing countries, and important members of the Global South. We are both at a crucial phase in our respective modernisation endeavours. It best serves the fundamental interests of our two countries and two peoples for both sides, to keep the trend of history in the right direction of our bilateral relations,” remarked Xi Jinping.

“It’s important for both sides to have more communication and cooperation, properly handle our differences and disagreements and to facilitate each other’s pursuit of development aspirations. It’s also important for both sides to shoulder our international responsibility, set an example for boosting the strength and unity of the developing countries and to contribute to promoting multi polarization and democracy in international relations,” he added.

The breakthrough in bilateral talks, first after the violent Galwan Valley face-off between the soldiers of the two countries at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in June 2020, was made possible after New Delhi and Beijing on Monday reached an agreement on patrolling along the nearly 3500-km Line of Actual Control (LAC) to end the four-year-long border confrontation.

“The two leaders agreed that the Special Representatives on the India-China boundary question will meet at an early date to oversee the management of peace and tranquility in border areas and to explore a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution to the boundary question. The relevant dialogue mechanisms at the level of Foreign Ministers and other officials will also be utilized to stabilize and rebuild bilateral relations,” read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) after the meeting between the two leaders.

It added that the two leaders affirmed that stable, predictable, and amicable bilateral relations between India and China, as two neighbours and the two largest nations on earth, will have a positive impact on regional and global peace and prosperity.

“It will also contribute to a multi-polar Asia and a multi-polar world. The leaders underlined the need to progress bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, enhance strategic communication and explore cooperation to address developmental challenges,” the statement mentioned.

On Monday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had confirmed that the Indian and Chinese diplomatic and military negotiators have been in close contact with each other in a variety of forums over the last several weeks after which an agreement was arrived at on patrolling arrangements along the LAC, leading to disengagement and a resolution of the issues that had arisen in the specific areas in 2020.

On Tuesday, as Xi Jinping left for Kazan, the Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed the patrolling arrangements in the India-China border areas.

As the Chinese side attempted to transgress the LAC in other areas of the Western Sector of the India-China border areas, the two sides have been engaged in discussions through established diplomatic and military channels to address the situation.

On Monday, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar said that the latest agreement creates the basis for peace and tranquillity which should be there in the border areas and existed before 2020 – something which had been India’s major concern over the past few years for the bilateral relationship to turn normal.

“At various points of time, people almost gave up. We have always maintained that on the one hand, we had to obviously do the counter deployments… But, side by side, we have been negotiating since September 2020 when I met my Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Moscow. It has been a very patient process, maybe more complicated than what it could and should have been. The fact is that if we are able to, as we now have, reach an understanding regarding patrolling and observing the sanctity of the LAC, then, I think, it creates the basis for peace and tranquillity which there should be in border areas and existed there before 2020,” remarked Jaishankar while speaking at the NDTV World Summit.

Yemen’s Houthis claim missile attack on Israel

0

Sanaa, Oct 23 (IANS) Yemen’s Houthi group said in a statement that it had launched a “hypersonic ballistic missile” towards Israel, and the attack was “successful.”

“We carried out a qualitative military operation targeting an Israeli military base east of the Jaffa area with a hypersonic ballistic missile, Palestine-2,” Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said via the Houthi-run al-Masirah TV on Tuesday, reports Xinhua news agency.

“The missile succeeded in reaching the target, bypassing the American and Israeli interception systems,” he said, vowing continued military operations against Israel “until the Israeli aggression on Gaza and Lebanon stops.”

So far, the Israeli side has not commented on the Houthis claim.

Since November last year, the Houthi group has been conducting missile and drone attacks on what it said were “Israeli-linked” ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, as well as targets in Israel, to show solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza.

The Houthis have escalated attacks since the end of September after Israel killed Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah in an airstrike on a building in the southern suburb of Beirut.
