Telugu Cinema rarely has lip-lock scenes that have become a norm in Bollywood these days. Telugu cinema audience, especially family audience doesn’t like to see such scenes along with their kids. Directors make sure not to have such scenes to attract the family audience. However Sukumar’s production Kumari 21F is not playing it safe. This hard hitting movie reportedly has not one but three elaborate lip lock scenes. Heroine Hebha Patel revealed about the lip lock galore in Kumari.

She says that these scenes are canned in an aesthetic way. These lip-locks are not there to titillate the audience but they are absolutely necessary for the story, she said. We have been hearing reports about the adult content in Kumari 21F that is based on teenage emotions and infatuations. Sukumar has written a bold story that may not appeal to the families. As per insiders this is a path breaking film that will trigger many more such attempts from the young directors. Kumari 21F is completely banking upon the young audience to conquer the box office. Let’s see if Sukumar’s Writings strike a chord with the youth or not.

The latest news in Tollywood is that Puri Jagannadh’s film Loafer has been bought for Rs 7 crores in Nizam. Right now, that is the discussion point and there is discussion about the real price and if Puri is merely spreading rumours. It is also true that Abhishek Pictures is on a roll right now. Though Puri and his team have been spreading the news, the big question is if anyone will pick up Varun Teja’s film for Rs 7 crores.

Some say that shelling out Rs 5 crores is a huge amount for Nizam considering various factors. However, in the past, when Abhishek Pictures picked up Srimanthudu, there was a similar talk and the film went to become such a huge hit. So, the situation could be same this time around too say some others.

Oh God, whose side you are on?

“God seems to be doing the least compared to America, Putin, Muslim leaders etc unless he’s really on the side of terrorists like they claim. Oh God, I think it’s high time you come out and prove once for all whose side you are on?” says Ram Gopal Varma, maverick Telugu filmmaker.

This talented director is always known for his stark satires and comments on various things happening in society. In the wake of Paris Terrorist Attacks, he is targeting GOD these days. Well, there is point in what Ramu is asking, but there are no technical stuff to prove God, which everyone know.

“Instead of protesting against terrorists who kill,it’s high time we protest against God for allowing them to kill”, he adds. Ramu’s conversations and comments are interesting, but hope they don’t invite the ire of conservative and fundamentalist group.

Rings and pacifiers: Health gadgets get sophisticated

Helsinki: After the smartphone and fitness bracelet, here comes the smart ring. And the smart pacifier, and smart rollator. “Wellness” computers that monitor your pulse, temperature and other health indicators are becoming increasingly sophisticated and varied to cover every aspect — and age — of human life. Some products, like the ring by Finnish startup Ouraring, are specialized in optimizing physical training by tracking sleep patterns and physical activity. Others are looking to fit into health care services, such as in developed countries that are struggling to cope with aging populations. Health gadgets took the limelight at this week’s Slush fair, a gathering of technology startups that has drawn 800 investors and an estimated 15,000 participants worldwide. Lasse Leppakorpi, the founder and CEO of Beddit, a startup specializing in sleep-monitoring equipment, says new gadgets will increasingly change the role of doctors to becoming “consultants and experts” for people concerned about their well-being. “The focus of health care will shift from treating illnesses more toward responsibility of caring for one’s health,” he said at the Slush fair, featuring a record 1,700 startups. Earlier this year, the Technical Research Center of Finland launched a digital maternity package complete with pacifiers that can monitor babies’ sleep, well-being and physical development. It has now turned its sights to the other end of the life curve — to smart rollators for the elderly, retrofitted with sensors and digital software to analyze users’ physical condition and daily activities.

Jyrki Kasvi, a Green Party lawmaker, sees benefits to both governments and companies. “This is an extremely important field, both for the technology side and for health services. In the future, there’s no way we’ll be able to afford having people running from lab to lab to be tested and measured if we can monitor them with gadgets.” The startup scene is particularly important for Finland, which is in its fourth year of recession and is keenly trying to fill a hole in the economy left by Nokia, the former top cellphone maker that sold off its ailing handset business. The Finnish Funding Agency, which helps companies with perceived potential to develop and compete abroad, considers health and well-being a key sector. “This may not replace Nokia but it certainly complements Nokia’s achievement,” said Mirja Kaarlela, the agency’s director of health and well-being. “Nearly everyone involved in the digital health sector uses the knowhow created by Nokia in health and fitness wearables.” The Slush event, which began with a few hundred participants in 2008, has grown steadily. This year, investors are coming from as far away as Australia to look for opportunities. Nicholas Young from Otsana Capital, based in Perth, Australia, said the “mood is very energetic and positive,” but declined to name any potential investment targets. “There’s been an increase in the number of tech health care transactions that have come into the Australian market,” he said. “That’s a massive sector and a huge valuation that can be attributed to something that’s quite simple but can save governments and health organizations around the world lots and lots of money … and keep us living for longer.”

The maker of the smart ring, Ouraring, believes it has an advantage over companies providing only sleep-monitoring equipment, such as smart beds equipped with sensor straps under bed sheets. “Our rings monitor when you’re asleep, when you’re awake, if you’re sitting, when you’re on the move,” said Kari Kivela, head of design at the Finnish company based in the city of Oulu, a former Nokia hub. Ouraring’s ceramic finger monitor registers activity during physical exercise, helping users plan training and recovery by linking the digital data to a cellphone app. The app analyzes the quality of rest and recovery by measuring the data from heart and respiration rates, body temperature, and body movement. During waking hours it monitors the duration and intensity of activity and time spent sitting. On Thursday, the company announced it had secured $2.3 million in funding, mainly from U.S investors, on top of $650,000 raised in an international Kickstarter campaign in September with more than 2,000 backers. The ring comes in several sizes but only two colors — black and white — and looks like a plastic signet ring.

Made of a scratch-resistant ceramic compound, it slides easily onto the finger, and seems unobtrusive and light to wear. But it doesn’t come cheap, with a price tag of 299 euros, increasing to 329 euros after the funding campaign ends. Many smart watches and bracelets measure similar activities, but Kivela says that rings are more reliable because they fit firmer onto fingers than bracelets, which tend to be disturbed by wrist movements. “Savvy consumers would rather wear their nice Swiss watches than plastic monitoring bracelet,” Kivela says. “The ring does the monitoring instead.”

Akhil, Probably Mother’s Genes

“Akhil” would have failed to meet the expectations but it has touched right chords when it comes to Nagarjuna’s father heart. Being a businessman too, he could foresee what sort of a hero his younger son would become. Sharing his thoughts along with Amala, he revealed interesting things.

“I’m proud of Akhil, no matter what the film’s box office fate is. He has got awesome maturity at 21 years of age, which even I don’t have back then. His base voice is a treat to hear, while his dances are a charmer”, says Nag, heaping praises on his son.

“Anybody could manage fights, but dances are tough. Your body should have rhythm and timing. Akhil has done that well, probably his mother’s genes” he added. Amala is a classical dancer and she’s known for giving performances across India before she ventured into films as a heroine.

Anyway, all we can say with Nag’s comments is that his father heart is feeling very happy for his son’s performance in the debut movie. Though he shared this already at success meet, he’s repeating it on TVs now to make sure that the message will reach family audiences. Also this would serve as last minute attention grabber for Akhil from theatres.

Koratala Siva To Direct Hrithik Roshan

As reported by us earlier, Hrithik Roshan is likely to reprise Telugu Superstar Mahesh Babu in the Hindi remake of Srimanthudu. The latest buzz is that writer-director Koratala Siva who originally made movie in Telugu, is expected to helm the Hindi remake as well. Discussions regarding this are going on.

Siva has 50 per cent share in the Hindi remake rights whereas the rest lies with Eros International. Hence both are joining forces to make the movie. Hrithik has already watched the movie couple of times and impressed with it. However, Hrithik suggested few changes in the climax and Koratala would be making those changes soon.

Hrithik’s dad Rakesh Roshan himself likely to be playing onscreen dad (essayed by Jagapathi Babu in Telugu) in the Hindi version. First Koratala would start his next (Janatha Garage) with Jr NTR from January. After wrapping up the film in August 2016, he’ll work on the Hindi version of Srimanthudu from September 2016.

Hype Can Kill Mahesh Babu’s Business

Other than in “Srimanthudu” case, the two times when Mahesh’s films are sold for higher prices, the result is drastic. It not only affected distributors, but our himself said, ‘lot of money and things are at stake’ and he got disappointed hugely. There was a time when Mahesh said sorry to fans But what’s the reason for all this hype and over-the-top selling.

During both 1 Nenokadine and Aagadu days, Mahesh’s movies got huge hype, due to various factors. His sky rocketing charm and stardom coupled with the image of director have brightened the chances of selling. Blame it high production costs or other issues from producers side, those two film got sold for hefty prices, more than 70+ crores business, and when the films flopped, that led to heft losses. The bigger thing to be looked upon is, hype has led some big Bollywood companies owning those movies and that has led to selling at high prices.

Now that the news of Mahesh’s next with AR Murugadoss is out, and hyped that Mahesh is getting around 25 crores as remuneration, no doubt Bollywood companies will be trying to own the movie at higher rates. Will that lead local distributors to invest heavily again? Not this time maybe, because 2015 haven’t been productive for any as Srimanthudu helped them only to recover previous losses. So, hype could kill business this time.

Three producers, Radha Mohan of Bengal Tiger, PVP of Size Zero and Kona Venkat of Sankarabharanam, have come to an understanding and have decided to release their films within a week from each other instead of simultaneously. “In the present scenario, most films need just one week to get good revenues, so we decided to release our films with one-week gaps,” says PVP, praising producer Radha Mohan’s decision to postpone Bengal Tiger to a later date.

Says Radha Mohan, “First I wanted to release on November 5, but Akhil’s movie was there, so I postponed it to November 27. But Size Zero will be releasing then. Now I am releasing on December 10 to give space to Sankarabharanam too.”

“Generally if a film is postponed, rumours spread that the film is having a reshoot. But at this juncture PVP and Radha Mohan clarified about their release dates. This is a good sign for the industry and I hope everyone gets good revenues,” says Kona. The films are now releasing on November 27, December 4 and 10 respectively.
