High Tension in Hyd

0
D-day has finally arrived in Hyderabad and the city is gripped with high tension with police cordoning off entire city erecting checkposts in all important locations turning it into a virtual fortress. It will be a daunting task for police as yesterday itself they somehow managed to successfully finish of Ganesh idol immersion well in advance with everyone gripped with march fever.

With International summit on Diversity tomorrow and entire world’s attention focused on Hyderabad, even unwanted and unsocial elements try their best to gain attention by creating some havoc. Telangana protests have always been violent going by the past experiences and with Maoists pledging their support and march organizers warning Govt of dire consequences if they are stopped battle lines are drawn.

City always wakes up with news of any person with connection to Hyderabad caught any where in the country  for alleged terror links. This already bought bad name for the city. Now with many unsocial elements and even terrorist sleeper cells operating, it will be a difficult task for police who have been going soft for political reasons on these elements. It has to be seen how they will handle the situation and keep image of Brand Hyderabad intact.

Media Talk about Rebel Movie

0
The most waited film ‘Rebel’ has seen light shaking entire Andhra Pradesh with huge publicity and released in Telugu all over the world.

Now let us see what national media and other popular News Dailies in English say about this film.

Hindu Review
Rating: N/A
We don’t know what the director understood by the word Macho, but it certainly has got nothing to do with unkempt hair and V-cut shirts. You see Prabhas giving a heavy competition to Deeksha and Tamanna in wearing plunging necklines — deeper than what is digestible (gulp!). There is a lot of style in the film, except that it’s terribly misplaced. Take for example the many Justin Beiber shirts that Prabhas sports and the garish-brand-screaming-punk-like belts, Armani, D&G, Diesel, just take your pick. The villains and goondas seem to have a better grasp of music, what with their Beatles T-shirts.

Talking about actual content, there isn’t much collateral to begin with. It’s ultimately a clichéd revenge drama, told in a tacky but slightly different fashion The film could have easily been cut down to two hours and boy! The extra fifty minutes feel like a punishment because there is only so much of jarring bass of dishoom-dishoom that you can take.

TimesOfIndia Review
Rating: 2.5/5

The movie pushes the limits of the term ‘stylized action’. In one episode you have Prabhas (in an all black ensemble) walking down the road puffing on a cigarette with the baddies flying all around him and the Dolby Stereo on full blast! In the climax, you have a bunch of smoking hot ‘firang’ ladies in red business suits and stilettos having a go at Prabhas, who himself is dressed in a white designer suit to boot!

It doesn’t stay ‘slick’ and ‘chic’ all the way though. We have Prabhas pitted against 100 sari-clad men as well. Clearly director Raghava Lawrence was in no mood to hold back and he’s given it the proverbial ‘everything but the kitchen sink’, never mind the stink! It’s a mass action entertainer after all.

The comedy tracks in the first-half evoke some laughs although they do raise questions of taste. If you are the type who would crack up watching Kovai Sarala and Brahmanadam gyrating to hip-hop music and Ali dancing to classical music then you will enjoy it. It’s an A rated movie after all.

There is a surfeit of elaborate action episodes but they fail to add any value to the overall experience. The music is another big let-down. The screenplay and writing is, well, amateurish at best. Looks like the formula failed to come together this time around. There is plenty of Prabhas though and we will have to see whether his presence alone can salvage this one. There is very little else.

Rediff Review: Rebel is for the masses
Rating: 1.5/5

When the Telugu film Rebel begins, one gets the impression that it’s going to be an action film. But as the film progresses, it turns into a revenge drama like so many others.

Working with hardly any storyline, director Raghava Lawrence had made a film that is arduous to watch.

The screenplay is predictable and illogical. The whole film is very loud. Lawrence tries to make it stylish with super cool villains, fights, Russian girls and even eunuch-like characters but to no avail.

As a choreographer, he has got the best out of Tamannaah and Prabhas. He has chosen to focus on Tamannah’s sex appeal rather than on her acting skills. She looks glamorous and dances well.

Prabhas does a good job. Deeksha Seth didn’t have much of a role. Krishnam Raju, Brahmanandam, Pradeep Rawat and Mukesh Rishi do what is expected of them.

The music, scored by Lawrence himself, is average.

Rebel is a movie for the masses and certainly not for the discerning audience.

NDTV Review
Rating: N/A

Rebel is an action revenge drama with a pinch of romance added. It revolves around Rishi (Prabhas), son of a mafia don (Krishnam Raju), who wants revenge for his father’s killing.

Prabhas is seen romancing Deeksha Seth in the first half of the movie and Tamannaah Bhatia in the second half.

Prabhas is at ease in his three different roles in the movie – a shy son, a lover and a gangster.

Tamannaah Bhatia appears in the most glamorous character as a hip hop dancer and excels in displaying her dancing skills. Deeksha Seth has only a very brief role in the film.

Cinematography is excellent in this film. Cinematographer C Ram Prasad has used different colours for the songs and picturisation of the fights. But the film is too lengthy.

Rebel serves up fare for the mass audience. The film will be definitely liked by Prabhas’ fans. Watch it for the dancing talent of Tamannaah Bhatia and action skills of Prabhas.

Bangalore Mirror: Rebellion overdose
Rating: N/A

If you are one of those who is keen to look for logic in every scene, then this is not your cup of tea. The best part – or the worst part – is that you find everybody has a gun and an urge to execute it.

The mindless bashing, which begins from scene one, continues till the end. Rebel has been one of the most-awaited flicks for the last two years. It had its share of controversies as Anushka was replaced by Tammannah while music director Taman apparently walked out, paving way for Lawrence to score the music (needless to say, it’s a big let-down). With his hands full, Lawrence has tried his best to give ‘too much’ on the platter, which actually turns out to be an overdose.

Deccan Chronicle: Unbelievable heroics
Rating: 1.5/5

Prabhas, who tasted success as a lover boy in Darling and Mr Perfect, is on action mode this time in Rebel. However, the repulsive and gory action sequences could not help his plans to score a hat-trick of hits.

His well-built body and fiery performance brings to life the role of an ‘angry young man’ who sets out to avenge the death of his parents but the exaggerated and unbelievable heroic feats dampen the proceedings and the climax fight (inspired by Kill Bill series) is hard to digest even for die-hard movie buffs.

Director Lawrence seems to not have come out of the hangover of his earlier hits like Mass and Don and we could find traces of both the films in Rebel, which scores high on repulsive action and less on content.

The director totally banks on the blatant skin show of Tamannah, slam-bang action, suave-looking villains and few jokes and brief father-son relationship, but it’s not sufficient to sustain audience interest for nearly three hours.

Worried Mohan Babu sacrifices for his son

0
Collection King Mohan Babu delivered many sensational hits in his distinguished career  but the same can not be said of his sons Manchu Manoj and Manchu Vishnu. However hard they try they are unable to come out with decent hits. It seems that worried Mohan Babu decided he should do some thing to place his sons’ career on success track in tollywood.

He must have made many sacrifices but nothing may have come out but his latest sacrifice came out during the launch of Manchu Vishnu’s ‘Denikaina Ready’. He revealed that he requested script writers Gopi Mohan, BVSV.Ravi and Kona Venkat to prepare a powerful script for him so that he could be entertaining movie lovers true to his style. However he later decided it is better to get a script for his son Vishnu as he has nothing to prove while his son has lot more to do.

He then requested them to prepare a script suited for Vishnu and BVSV.Ravi came with a wonderful script similar to that of ‘Dhee’. It has to be seen whether Mohan Babu’s sacrifice bring success to his son Manchu Vishnu who is desperately looking for a hit. The film stars Hansika and music is scored by Chakri and Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Puri’s Brazilian Blast

0
Successful director Puri Jagannath is known for his item numbers in his films. He will be selecting hot item babes on internet only. That is why most of the hotties who featured in special songs in his films attained so much stardom and popularity. For quite sometime Puri casted mesmerizing beauty Mumaith Khan in special songs in many of his films. All those songs created a item wave on Tollywood silver screen.

Now it seems his focus is totally away from Mumaith and is totally concentrating on Brazilian bomb Gabriela Bertante who gave kick singing ‘Disturb Chestunnade’ in Ravi Teja’s ‘Devudu Chesina Manushulu’. Despite the film turning out to be a failure, the item song became quite popular and movie lovers especially men started raving about this Brazilian bombshell.

This item even caught the attention of Bollywood film makers and Bertante landed in Bollywood. However Puri is keen on showing Bartante’s beauty once again on tollywood silverscreen and if everything goes according to his plans Gabriela will soon be seen scorching in the sets of Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming film ‘Cameraman Gangato Rambabu’.

Powerstar fans are already going crazy over the news and are having wild dreams with their hero shaking his legs with this hot babe aka ‘Kevvu Keka’ style.

Prabhas’ hat trick dreams shattered

0
Prabhas starrer Rebel that has hit the big-screens yesterday had carried negative report straight from the midnight shows. the 2 hour 56 minutes had highly disappointed except for the two action sequences. The movie was released in a huge number of theaters and collections began to take a dip with the bad talk. But fans can take a solace that in Prabhas’ macho look. The Young Rebel Star looked outstanding in action sequences and the choreographers utilized his height as an asset for fights.

The expectations on Rebel has been on peaks and we will have to see how the movie settles finally!

Mallika rubbishes concept of marriage

0
Bold Bade Mallika Sherawat who never minds a controversy to speak her mind out, had passed one more controversial comment. This time he hits on the concept of marriages. Also she had declared that she had no idea of getting married. She claims that the age old tradition of marriage is outdated.

“I don’t think I will ever get married. I am busy shooting, I travel a lot. I never thought about marriage. I think getting married is so outdated,” she says. Mallika is not as busy in Bollywood.  She has recently shot with American pop star Bruno Mars for his parody video of Salt ‘N’ Pepa’s Whatta Man (featuring En Vogue) for a comedy website.

Raghavendra Rao’s flop hat trick

0
Top director Raghavendra Rao is hailed as the most creative commercial director. Many movie lovers and critics feel that he beautifies films with commercial elements and shows all heroines in a stunningly extraordinary manner. Long time back during  his media interactions on his ‘Adaviramudu’ starring NTR turning super hit, he said even he knew the film’s story and script doesn’t make any sense logically. He went on to say he is making such logic less films as people are watching them and making them a hit.

Raghavendra Rao is more concerned about turning the film into a super hit and for that to happen he is not even bothered to include commercial elements irrespective of the project being a mythological, social, family or historical venture. That was the reason why even devotional films under his direction have extreme romance and cheap comedy scenes.

Even when his devotional films like Pandurangadu and Sri Ramadasu did not well due to these extreme elements he is not concerned. Even when movie lovers rejected Raghavendra Rao’s theory of having commercial values in devotional entertainers, he loaded his latest film ‘Shirdi Sai’ starring Nagarjuna with the same elements like cheap dialogues in the name of comedy which resulted in the film sinking without a trace on silverscreen.

Police- soft on Protesters-Tough on Pandals

0
Ever since Telangana moment erupted hands of Andhra Pradesh police force were tied. They are asked to bear the brunt of the protesters and bruise themselves from the volley of stones pelted on them and abuses hurled at them. So they should remain mute spectators even when they torch and burn buses and damage public property. They are used to since even if they book cases on the people who are indulging in this violence there will be pressure from top political bosses who ask for cases to be removed citing telangana sentiment. If they refuge to budge then they will be branded telangana traitors though the law enforcing authorities hail from the same region and they are just doing duty protecting public property.

Police is once again faced with the problem of dealing with Ganesh immersion and T-march the next day and then Biodiversity summit. Now that their hands are tied from taking any action on T-protesters, they are showing their anger on organizers who erected ganesh pandals. They are seen threatening them with dire consequences and warning them of cases being booked on them if they don’t immerse their idols immediately and remove the pandals.

This turned many furious and many are seen angrily questioning police whether they would do the same pressure tactics if the procession happen to be that of another religion people whom Govt prostrate before a party which advocate the feelings and aspirations of them.Wonder what answer officials and Govt got for this.

When Deeksha defeated Tamanna ?

0
Currently milky beauty Tamanna is the shining star in Indian cinema. She set tollywood and south on fire and is currently setting her sights on Bollywood. She is making her debut in the remake of Himmatwala and already many top heroes are sending feelers expressing their wish to romance her.
This ‘Happy Days’ hottie decided to step up glamor gas from Badrinath in which she gave a delicious treat opposite Allu Arjun. More recently she did the same to Mega Power Star Ram Charan and created Racha at box office. Her film ‘Rebel’ hit the screens yesterday and people who watched the film couldn’t stop but rave about Tammu’s hot glamor. She drove people mad knocking their minds out and many expect in the coming days masses will throng theaters to enjoy the slim waist and sexy curves of the milky beauty.
However in the midst of all this tall Delhi damsel Deeksha Seth who is craving for a decent hit defeated Tamanna. It may look strange but she shocked all by defeating Tamanna with the melodiously tuned sentimentally loaded beautiful song ‘Deepali’ in ‘Rebel’ filmed on her and Prabhas along with orphans. The song moved many hearts and inspite of all the glamor treat doled out by Tamanna, Deeksha emerged winner.

Naidu punishes himself seeking Mercy!

0

Chandra Babu seems to have realized that his arms and ammunition is done away with and now he has no other go but to seek mercy for his sins that hurt poor during his regime. After getting battered and bruised in all by elections that were held in the state after Cong came to power, things are looking bleak for him and his party. With Telangana on fire ignited  by KCR and Seemandhra experiencing Jagan wave, Babu’s TDP is losing hopes of regaining power in the next elections due in 2014.

He tried all the tricks in his sleeve and did not leave any public issue of any small importance but people stopped believing him after his flip flop on farmers issues and Power cuts to name a few. A desperate Babu decided to undertake state wide tour for 117 days in the runup for elections and in his bid to gain confidence of people he said he will be punishing himself on his yatra for his sins at his age for the benefit of the people. He is saying he is deeply moved at the state of AP which made him to take tour of the state. It has to be seen how much people believe in Babu.

Betting for Jagan Bail

0
Anything of interest will revolve around money in this world and when it involves high profile incidents and individuals then huge money will change hands. This may result in huge profits or huge losses and fortunes swing back and forth in this betting game. Jagan is a phenomenon one can not ignore whether one hates or loves.
Currently he is spending his time in Chanchalguda jail and if one think that he is worried about his future, then they would be mistaken. He is busy finalizing candidates for the coming general elections and simultaneously trying his best to come out of jail on bail. Many times he filed petition with court applying for bail and whenever his bail application comes for hearing there will be lot of betting involved.
Even the betting pattern diverges. While in Kadapa which is Jagan’s stronghold betting is heavily loaded in favor of Jagan while in other areas it is quite evenly poised. Till now there are no favorable signals on Jagan’s bail application but betting game never ceases to stop. One has to wait and watch who will emerge winners in this betting battle in the long run. Seems even betting fame requires lot of patience and strategic skills.

Violence at what Cost

0
Whenever any protest, bandhs and rastarokos happen they will invariably lead to violence. The organizers promise and even give an undertaking to the law authorities that they wont be indulging in violence but once the protests , processions and marches starts then intentionally and unintentionally violence erupts. Some may be due to irresponsible statements by politicians who vitiate the atmosphere leading to violence.
Telangana march is on 30th September and as usual organizers promised peaceful march while Govt who was hellbent on not giving permission, finally relented to pressure. Already statements are coming from all quarters that if they are stopped at any place there would be violence. One still cannot forget damage of statues of greats at Tank Bund during million march and many fear the repeat of the same.
One wonders why protesters indulge in violence and question ‘violence at what cost?’ Govt taking refuge in violence and incidents in the protests, conveniently increase prices of all essential commodities, increase bus and auto fares and what not. Protesters should introspect themselves and before indulging in any violence they should think about what they want. Increase in prices of all and burden people with taxes? If this is so then they can break, loot, fire and go on rampage pelting stones and then demand for withdrawal of cases taking refuge in telangana sentiment.

Prabhas’s Rebel Movie Review – 2.75/5

Rating: 2.75/5
Banner: Balaji Cine Media
Cast: Young Rebel Star Prabhas, Tamanna, Krishnam raju, Deeksha Seth, Brahmanandam, M.S.Narayana, Kovai sarala, Supreet,Ali
Lyrics: Ramajogayya Sastry, Bhaskarabhatla
Dialogues: Darling Swamy
Fights: Ram-Lakshman
Art: A.S.Prakash
Editing: Marthand.K.Venkatesh
Cinematography: Ram Prasad
Producers: J.Bhagwan, J.Pulla Rao
Story-Screenplay-Choreography-Music-Direction: Ragava Lawrence
CBFC rating: ‘A’
Release date: 28-09-2012
Story: Rishi (Prabhas) comes to Bangkok along with brahmanandam and joins as a student where Nandini(Tamanna) teaches dance classes. Rishi actually has come over there in search of some one who is closely related to Nandini. He traps her in his love and what happens after that? What’s his mission? Did he succeed in that is what the film is about? Deepali(Deekshaseth) is Rishi’s lady interest in the flash back episode.
Performances: Prabhas is good. He performed well. He completely surrendered to the director. He emoted well in crucial scenes. Tamanna is used for skin show and she has done complete justice to it. Deeksha Seth is okay in small role. Krishnam raju appears in a brief role in the flashback. The remaining actors are okay. The art work is good. The Editing could have been better. Cinematography is good. Music is bad. The story is predictable. The screenplay is boring and the direction is poor (except a few episodes)
Analysis: Prabhas is good. He performed well in all the scenes. He is good in temple (Krishnam Raju, Prabha, and Deekshaseth) scene. He looked macho with stylish costumes. He once again proved that he is a director’s actor. He showed variation in all the get-ups. Tamanna looked good in glamour show and she has done a bit of over action (over board) at times. She danced well in the songs. Deeksha Seth is okay; she has less screen presence and can be seen in a song only. Krishnam raju is okay (doesn’t do much other than delivering dialogues sitting in a chair). Supreet got a crucial role and he impresses very well. Prabha, Mukhesh Rishi, Ali are okay.
Brahmanandam and Kovai Sarala track is the only comedy track in the film. The comedy is of cheap standards. Ali dance episode is dragged to the maximum limit. The second half is completely stuffed with violence scenes. The flash back episode also failed to rise to the expectations. There are very limited scenes in the movies. All the scenes are lengthy and appeared stretched. You may even get a feel like you are watching continuous lengthy episodes which are not edited.
Coming to the technical aspects, The Art work is fine and film is horribly lengthy with many ups and downs, the editor could have made it crisper. The Music of the film is a big letdown. The songs are not even worth for listening once. Lawrence should seriously think of quitting that responsibility (Music Direction). The Background score is loud at times.
Lawrence once again cooked up another film who doesn’t apply much of the brain and they don’t have many questions in their mind like why and how? The Fight sequences are well choreographed. They looked stylish. The pre interval, episode and the Fight at the temple and the climax fight looked good on the screen. Lawrence showed much maturity in monitoring Fights rather than choreographing the songs as the Music is utterly poor. The graph of the film suddenly drops and bores you and quickly rises to peaks just before the fight episodes. The violence dosage is more.
If you are a fan of Prabhas and waiting/wanting to see him in a mass role it’s for you, You can enjoy the movie more if you care less about logic, scenes and in the fights (if you are okay with heavy Thread work filled with artificiality)…..and last but not the least if you don’t bother much about the story You may watch it once.
Like earlier Lawrence movies this movie too has Black /white suits and cars. Fights shot in rain effects. Blue swimming pools with skin show, a chopper in the climax and some trained lady fighters. The movie has style even though it lacks substance. The fate of the Film completely depends on how the masses receive this flick.
Plus: Prabhas, Fights
Minus: Story, Screenplay, Music, Direction
Verdict: Strictly for Prabhas fans and Masses

T cracks in TDP

0
Chandra Babu Naidu who till now has been following two pronged strategy on formation of telangana decided enough is enough and sent a letter to PM seeking formation of telangana. This came as surprise for the party’s seemandhra leaders as they tried their best to influence him saying there was no need of any such letter .

However Babu this time tried to be different and took the side of telangana as he is keen on covering entire state in his 117days padayatra. However his decision immediately resulted in cracks in the party as its powerful leader from Rayalaseema Byreddy Rajasekhara Reddy and another young MLA decided to resign from the party. They accused Babu trying to divide the state and branded him as traitor of Seemandhra. They questioned how could Babu arrive at the decision, when he himself is from Rayalaseema region.

However supporters of Chandra Babu counter this saying all these leaders who are accusing Babu as traitor of Seemandhra long time back decided to quit the party and join rival YSRCP and they are just waiting for the right opportunity. Since Babu gave the letter they are using it as a pretext to leave the party. It has to be seen who will buy this argument.

T-sword towards Congress

0
Congress party was completely baffled when it found itself tangled in T-Web when wily KCR undertook fast unto death in 2009. Its inexperience came to fore when Union Home Minister Chidambaram made a midnight statement announcing the formation of Telangana thus signaling the bifurcation of the state. After severe protests and counter reactions it sought to take solace that in the all party meeting there was no consensus on the whole issue. It conveniently forgot the fact that there was no consensus on telangana in the party itself.

Forgetting this fact it started blaming other parties and took it as convenient method to delay its decision. However now that Chandra Babu sending  a letter to PM on telangana, the focus shifted to Cong and now it is in dilemma on what decision it should arrive at. Already its T representatives are a worried lot as now its rival TDP party can question in front of telangana people about their decision since their leader CBN has clarified his party’s stand on Telangana.

Cong then should search for answers and now no one will believe if it try to shift blame on other parties as KCR has been stay put in Delhi in consultations with Cong high command. Now T-sword is pointing towards Congress and it has to be seen how Cong saves itself from the situation.

Ajay Devgn to dub for Rajamouli

0
Our readers might be aware that SS Rajamouli had dubbed for the introduction lines of Eega. Thats a conversation of a daughter pestering her dad and mom for a story. And as the credits come to an end, that’s when the father begins to narrate the story and the film unfolds.

While director Rajamouli, his wife Rama and their daughter Mayookha, lent their voices for this particular part of the film in the Telugu version, for the Hindi version, Ajay Devgn has agreed to dub for Rajamouli and the rest of the voice-overs are still to be confirmed. The makers are reportedly in talks with Kajol to dub for the mother’s role.

Eega is all set for release in Hindi as Makkhi in Mid-October.
