OTT Or Theatrical: What Next For Samantha?
Samantha is one of the biggest names in Telugu cinema and the actress has been actively making films a couple of years back. But in view of the medical condition that she had been suffering from, she had slowed down a bit.
Due to the gap in filming, Samantha is now mostly confined to OTT shows. Her latest outing Citadel: Honey Bunny is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Luckily for Samantha, despite the ordinary reviews for the Amazon show, it could catch the attention of the OTT audience worldwide and gain a fair bit of traction.
Apparently, it has clocked viewership readings in nearly 200 countries which is a big deal.
However, the issue here is that the OTT boom for Samantha will keep her closer only to OTT stuff henceforth and gradually take her away from theatrical films.
In accordance, Samantha doesn’t have any theatrical projects at hand. The chances are that Amazon might approach her with another OTT project in the due course.
Does this essentially mean that the OTT boom for Samantha results in a subsided theatrical interest? Only time will answer this question, it must be said.
Sonali Bendre reveals why she likes ‘black outfits’
Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre has a good reason for why she loves her outfits in shades of black.
Sonali took to Instagram, where she shared a string of pictures dressed in a black ankle length dress. She completed her look with golden drop earrings, subtle makeup and hair tied into a neat bun.
She captioned the post: “Like my outfits how i like my coffee: black! (sic)”
On November 12, Sonali and her husband, Goldie Behl celebrated 22 years of togetherness.
To mark this milestone, the actress shared a heartfelt video compiling their unseen romantic and cherished memories. Sonali took to her Instagram to post a video and captioned it, “22 @goldiebehl.” While the caption was simple, the video montage spoke volumes about their relationship.
The ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ actress also included the song “Maiyya” by the composer duo Sachet-Parampara from the film “Do Patti.” The video features Sonali and Goldie’s unseen photos from their outings, starry appearances, and vacations.
She wrote, “Then. Now. Forever.” One of the photos was from their wedding day on November 12, 2002.
Sonali and Goldie tied the knot in a lavish ceremony on November 12. Their wedding was a grand affair, attended by high-profile guests, including Mumbai’s then-Chief Minister, Vilasrao Deshmukh. The couple also have a son named Ranveer together.
Sonali made her acting debut with Aag in 1994. She was then seen in films such as “Diljale”, “Major Saab”, “Sarfarosh”, “Hum Saath Saath Hain”, “Humara Dil Aapke Paas Hain”, “Kadhalar Dhinam” and “Murari” among many others.
She was last seen in the film “Love You Hamesha” starring Akshaye Khanna. The film was stuck in the cans and remained unreleased for over 21 years. Sonali had called her role in this film one of her best roles. The film was finally released on 7 July 2022 on YouTube. ]

Sidhant Gupta pens a heartfelt tribute for Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary
Actor Sidhant Gupta, who is set to essay the role of India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the upcoming OTT series ‘Freedom at Midnight’, has penned a beautiful poem as a tribute to the late political leader on his birth anniversary.
On Thursday, Sidhant took to his Instagram, and shared several monochromatic throwback pictures featuring Nehru. The pictures show Nehru in the company of activists and leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore. The series of rare photographs also showcase Nehru sharing a tender moment with a child, and holding a red rose, his signature accessory that symbolised his spirit and ideals.
Sidhant wrote, “My distant dream is coming alive After all the miseries, struggles and fight. Breaking the shackles imprisoning my light. I carried the weight of the life I played. Tasting glories in his life’s story. While his grace was worth every chase beyond that face, the world he braced built marvels in the dungeons. So ahead of his time, against all hate”.
He further mentioned, “Playing Nehru has been an honour. An unknown aid awaited me in every corner. Someone or the other will always pull you down. I will win the longest run, I’m holding my ground. To hell with the spiteful magic’s in rightful. When the heart beats for every other unyielded in the loudest shudder. My distant dream is coming alive. Freedom is around the corner. It’s almost midnight”.
For Sidhant, playing Nehru is a deeply meaningful experience, especially after the success of ‘Jubilee’.
Meanwhile, ‘Freedom at Midnight’ also stars Chirag Vohra, Rajendra Chawla, Arif Zakaria, Ira Dubey, Malishka Mendonsa, Rajesh Kumar, KC Shankar, Luke McGibney, Cordelia Bugeja, Alistair Finlay, Andrew Cullum, Richard Teverson.

Actress Kajol took to social media to wish her kids, son Yug and daughter Nysa on Children’s Day.
On Thursday, the actress posted adorable photos with her kids, along with a note in which she shared her love for children. Kajol describes them as beings who haven’t yet lost their honesty or their zest for life.
According to her, children remind us of the freedom we all strive to regain as we grow older. The ‘Dilwale’ star added that, in many ways, we are all aiming to be as free as children, unaffected by the pressures and complexities of life.

Big Issue Sorted: Kanguva Bookings Opened
Suriya’s big league pan Indian outing Kanguva is all set for its theatrical debut on the 14th of this month and with virtually only a few hours to go for the release, there is a lot of anticipation on the advance booking trend.
However, the release of the film in the Telugu states has been in the doldrums as Mythri Movie Makers who are distributing the film in the Telugu states want to release it in rental basis. Their intention is to only pay standard rentals to exhibitors.
However, major exhibitors including Asian Cinemas are pushing for a revenue sharing model. They are demanding a share in the overall revenues, which is a standard practice these days.
As a result, the bookings for the Suriya starrer in the Telugu states were put on indefinite hold all the while before they finally got sorted a few minutes back. While the nature of the deal that Mythri stuck with the exhibitors is not yet publicized for obvious reasons, the important thing is that the bookings have finally opened in all major theater chains.
Even PVR Inox has opened the bookings for the film a short while back. The stage is now set for a wide release for the film tomorrow.
IIT Madras, ISRO to study spacecraft & launch vehicle-related thermal management
Chennai, Nov 11 (IANS) The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras on Monday announced a collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for research in ‘Fluid and Thermal Sciences’.
This CoE in the area of fluid and thermal sciences will act as the nodal centre to study thermal problems regarding the design, analysis, and testing of various components of launch vehicle.
ISRO will provide seed funding of Rs 1.84 Crore towards establishing the centre.
“This Centre of Excellence will foster a unique industry-academia interface, allowing ISRO scientists and IIT Madras faculty and students to collaboratively advance research in critical areas of thermal science,” said Prof. Arvind Pattamatta, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Madras.
“By addressing complex thermal engineering challenges, we aim to contribute significantly to the nation’s space programme and strengthen India’s self-reliance in space technologies,” he added.
An MoU towards this collaboration was signed at IIT Madras on Monday by Prof. Manu Santhanam, Dean (Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research), IIT Madras and. Victor Joseph T, Director, Directorate of Technology Development & Innovation (DTDI), ISRO.
The partnership aims to create a thermal management research hub for ISRO. It will launch projects that will cover critical areas, including spacecraft thermal management, combustion instability in hybrid rockets, and cryo-tank thermodynamics.
Previously, ISRO and IIT Madras had set up the ‘ISRO-IIT M Space Technology Cell’ in 1985. The tech Cell recognised the need to generate basic knowledge through advanced academic research to enable a truly self-reliant and self-generating space programme for the country.
For the new CoE, ISRO found that it can support its research and development activities in studies related to spacecraft thermal management, combustion instability in hybrid rockets, and cryo-tank thermodynamics studies, among other fields.
South Korea inks MOU with Poland on financial cooperation
Seoul, Nov 13 (IANS) South Korea inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Wednesday with Poland on expanding financial cooperation and asked the Eastern European country to help South Korean banks venture into the country.
The MOU was signed in Seoul between Financial Services Commission (FSC) chief Kim Byoung-hwan and Jacek Jastrzebski, the head of Poland’s financial watchdog, KNF, Yonhap news agency reported.
The two countries also agreed to expand their financial cooperation beyond the banking sector to the realms of insurance and others, according to the FSC.
Kim called for support in funding South Korean firms operating in Poland and asked his Polish counterpart to help South Korean banks make inroads into the country.
According to the FSC, a total of 370 South Korean firms had been operating in Poland as of end-2023, with their accumulated investments totalling $6 billion.
Poland is South Korea’s largest trading partner in Central and Eastern Europe, with bilateral trade growing for six consecutive years, reaching an all-time high of $10.1 billion last year.
In 2022, Poland signed procurement deals worth 17 trillion won ($12.4 billion) to buy K2 tanks, K9 self-propelled howitzers, FA-50 light attack aircraft and Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers to bolster its defences in the wake of the Russia-Ukraine war.
South Korea recently signed a deal to purchase so-called suicide drones from Poland to counter North Korea’s rising threats.
Angry China wants to deploy own security personnel to protect its citizens in Pakistan
Islamabad, Nov 13 (IANS) China continues to vigorously push the proposal of deploying its own security staff for thousands of its citizens working in Pakistan following several deadly attacks carried against Chinese workers in the country which have severely jolted Islamabad’s relationship with Beijing in recent times.
The development comes after October’s car bombing outside the Karachi airport that targeted Chinese investors and engineers associated with the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) infrastructure projects. The targeted attack resulted in the death of two Chinese workers.
A furious Beijing saw it as a major security failure on part of Pakistani agencies and pitched for a joint security management system in future that allows it to deploy its own personnel to safeguard the Chinese citizens.
As per sources, Beijing’s proposal was put forward during Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang’s visit to Pakistan last month for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting.
Li Qiang was the first Chinese premier to visit Pakistan in more than a decade and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had personally received him at the Nur Khan airbase in Rawalpindi.
It is believed that after several closed-door meetings, China’s proposal to have its own security personnel on Pakistani soil could eventually get approval from the local government.
“A written proposal was sent to Islamabad by Beijing. It was forwarded to the security agencies for review. The proposal allows the dispatching of security agencies and military forces into each other’s territory to assist in counter-terrorism missions and conduct joint strikes,” a source mentioned.
However, several high-ranking officials have also cast a serious doubt over the entire proposal, asserting that the move could have serious consequences for the country in future.
“Pakistan would prefer getting Chinese help in improving its intelligence and surveillance capabilities instead of direct involvement,” said a top government official.
China too is currently maintaining secrecy on the ongoing security cooperation talks with Pakistan.
“China will continue to strengthen cooperation with Pakistan and make joint efforts to do its utmost to maintain the security of Chinese personnel, projects and institutions,” a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson remarked while emphasising that he had no details on the joint security plan.
The intensity of the Karachi bombing and the investigation into the incident has angered Beijing as it has revealed the role played by an insider in securing details of the itinerary and route of the engineers, who were returning to Pakistan from Thailand.
Several countries, including the United States, could raise their strong objection to the move as they have already raised serious concerns in the past over the expanding Chinese footprint in Pakistan.

Police discover drug, detain nine in Afghanistan
Kandahar, Nov 13 (IANS) The counter-narcotics police have discovered a huge quantity of illicit drugs, including heroin, and arrested nine alleged drug traffickers in southern Afghanistan’s Kandahar province, provincial police spokesman Mullah Asadullah Jamshid said on Wednesday.
The contraband, which includes 3 kg heroin, 122 kg opium poppy, 2 kg hashish and more than two tons of material used in manufacturing heroin, was discovered during a series of recent operations, the official said.
Police also destroyed 2.5 acres of hashish farm recently, the official said, adding that no one would be allowed to produce or smuggle illegal drugs in the province, according to Xinhua news agency.
In a similar drive, police discovered 900 kg of illegal drugs, including 48 kg heroin, and took into custody four individuals on the charge of smuggling the contraband in western Afghanistan’s Nimroz province a month ago.
